The Wild have signed Cal O’Reilly to a two-year deal worth $1.4M ($700K AAV).

O’Reilly, 30, has been a strong producer at the AHL level, but hasn’t been able to do the same during his NHL stints. Cal isn’t as talented as his brother Ryan, but he can be a serviceable bottom-6 forward for the Wild, but he will likely spend more time in Iowa (AHL) than Minnesota.

This is O’Reilly’s second recall of the season and played four games with them back in November. O’Reilly is currently tied for second in the AHL with 26 assists and tied for ninth in points with 34 (8G / 26A).

O’Reilly, 30, has picked up 18 points (3G / 15A) in 15 games with Rochester this season. With some Sabres forwards banged up, including his brother Ryan, Cal has been recalled and is expected to make his season debut on Saturday. O’Reilly had seven points (3G / 4A) in 20 games with Buffalo last season.

O’Reilly suited up in the last four games, but will come out of the lineup after playing under 10 minutes in his last two games. O’Reilly picked up two goals and an assist in the last four games, but will come out for Evan Rodrigues tonight.

O’Reilly had one assist in two games with the Sabres earlier in the season and is expected to be back in the lineup tonight with Sam Reinhart sidelined. O’Reilly has 23 points (4G / 19A) in 35 games with Rochester.

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned forward Cal O’Reilly to the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).

O'Reilly has struggled under head coach Dave Tippett with two goals and five points over 22 games. He should be able to regain his scoring confidence in the minors.
