Wagner will be the odd-man out on Friday as Yakov Trenin and Brandon Duhaime will make their Avalanche debut. He has no goals and one assist in nine games this season.

The 32-year-old veteran was playing an extended role Wednesday as the Avalanche's third-line centre after trades thinned out the lineup. MacDermid will get a chance to play in place of Fredrik Olofsson, who is listed as a scratch for Thursday's game in Detroit. MacDermid has two goals and no assists in 28 games this season.

Wagner was forced to leave Thursday's game vs. the Stars in a scuffle with Mattias Janmark and did not return. Wagner was not on the ice for Friday's practice and will not travel to New York for Saturday's game. It's unclear whether or not he will accompany the team to Florida next week.

Wagner has no points in his last seven games and will be replaced by Joakim Nordstrom vs. the Capitals.
