Tampa Bay is hoping to welcome the talents of Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point back into their lineup on Monday against the Toronto Maple Leafs, resulting in Douglas being a healthy scratch. The 25-year-old Douglas is playing his first NHL season and has two assists in 22 games.

Douglas will be one of several Lightning players drawing in on Wednesday as Victor Hedman, Anthony Cirelli, and Pontus Holmberg are all unavailable due to injury.

Jack Finley will be a healthy scratch on Monday against the Boston Bruins, allowing Douglas to re-enter the lineup. The 25-year-old Douglas is coming off his NHL debut, playing 5:09 time-on-ice and recording a five-minute fighting penalty.

Douglas was a fourth-round pick of the Dallas Stars in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft but he has yet to make his NHL debut. The 25-year-old forward has spent the previous several seasons in the AHL, including scoring 23 points (10G / 13A) in 63 games with the Tucson Roadrunners in 2024-25.

Douglas was traded to the Utah organization in 2023 for Conor Timmins, and he has been with Tucson (AHL) ever since. The 2018 fourth-round pick has posted just 13 goals and 22 assists (35 points) in 107 games with the Roadrunners while also compiling 267 PIMS. The massive (6-foot-9, 242 lbs) forward should start the 2024-25 season in the AHL.

Douglas is best known for his massive 6'9" frame and will head to Arizona with hopes of making the Coyotes' roster at some point this season. In 13 games with the Toronto Marlies (AHL) he had one assist and 30 PIMs with a -2 rating. He was dealt for defensemen Conor Timmins Wednesday.
