Danny Richmond News

Washington engineered a pair of minor transactions on Thursday. The Caps traded veteran minor league defenseman Danny Richmond to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for second-year pro center Mike Carman.

Richmond gives the Avs' farm team a veteran offensive weapon. He is highly unlikely to play in the NHL.

The Capitals have signed veteran American Hockey League defenseman Danny Richmond to a one-year, two-way contract worth $525,000 in the NHL and $125,000 at the AHL level. Richmond, 26, posted 23 points and 121 penalty minutes in 68 games with the Toronto Marlies. He hasn’t played in the NHL since the 2007-08 season.
