Pastrnak was not at practice on Monday and could be at risk of missing his first game of the season when the Bruins visit the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday. The 28-year-old Pastrnak has only scored one in his last 11 games but has been productive in the assist department, scoring 10 points (1G / 9A) in his last nine games with firing 33 shots on goal.
Pastrnak is currently tied for fourth in the NHL in scoring with 42 goals, 38 assists, 285 SOG, a +27 plus/minus and 32 PIMs across 60 games this season and has signed an 8-year contract extension worth $90.0 million ($11.25M AAV). This will make Pastrnak a Bruin until at least his age-34 season.
Pastrnak retuned to the Bruins lineup on Saturday but was held out of the second-half of the Bruins' back-to-back on Sunday. He'll be back in on Tuesday, skating on a line with Erik Haula and Taylor Hall. Pastrnak had one goal and one assist in his return to the lineup vs. New York.
Pastrnak missed the last eight games with an undisclosed injury but will play Saturday vs. the Rangers. Pastrnak has scored 38 goals with 33 assists (71 points) in 69 games this season.
Pastrnak was hurt late in Monday's game in Columbus, missed Tuesday's game in Detroit and will not play on Thursday. Pastrnak remains on the road trip, so he is not expected to miss an extended period of time. Monitor his status head into Sunday's game in Washington.
Pastrnak got tangled up in Monday's game in Columbus and left the game with an undisclosed injury. Pastrnak did not return to the game and will not play Tuesday in Detroit. With Pastrnak and Trent Frederic (upper-body) both out, two of Marc McLaughlin, Jack Studnicka and/or Anton Blidh will draw into the Bruins' lineup.
Pastrnak is one of 16 regulars who will not be in the Bruins lineup on Tuesday. The Bruins will need to recall multiple players from their taxi squad/AHL to fill out their lineup. Oskar Steen is one of the players that is expected to draw in and replace Pastrnak on the wing.
Head coach Bruce Cassidy wouldn't go as far as to say that Pastrnak is in but said that there's a "good chance" and that they will see how he does in Saturday's morning skate. If Pastrnak does play, he is expected to be reunited with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand, which would bump Charlie Coyle back into a third-line centre role.
Pastrnak took off his "no contact" jersey for Monday's practice and could make his season debut later this week. Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy said that he will not play Tuesday or Thursday vs. the Penguins but may play Saturday in Washington. Cassidy said that Pastrnak will immediately return to the top line with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand.
Pastrnak was originally expected to miss the first month of the season, roughly 15 games, but head coach Bruce Cassidy provided some positive information on Tuesday. Pastrnak is one of the most polarizing players in fantasy drafts this season but this update provides optimism that could push his ADP into the second round.
As expected, Pastrnak will not be ready for the start of training camp and will miss at least the first few games of the regular season. Pastrnak's original timetable was mid-February, so it looks like that remains true as training camp gets set to begin this week.
