Dominik Kahun News
Kahun will play for the first time since February 20th and will replace Michael Frolik to make his Sabres debut in Vegas. Prior to his trade to Buffalo, Kahun had 10 goals and 17 assists (27 points) in 50 games.
Kahun was acquired from the Penguins on Monday but his knee injury will keep him from making his Sabres debut on Wednesday. Head coach Ralph Krueger wants him to get into a practice before he plays, so monitor his status leading up to their Friday/Saturday back-to-back.
Kahun totaled 10 goals and 17 assists in 50 games for the Penguins after being acquired from the Blackhawks in the off-season. He put up 37 points in 82 games as a 23-year-old rookie in Chicago last year. He is set to become a restricted free-agent on July 1st.
Kahun was on the ice for warmups but was a late scratch for the second straight game. Kahun keeps testing his lower-body injury out during warmups but Anthony Angello will remain in the lineup with Kahun out.
Kahun was a late-scratch from Saturday's lineup and will be a game-time decision for this afternoon's game in Washington. Expect Kahun to replace Anthony Angello in the lineup if he does play.
Kahun was forced to leave Sunday's game in the second period and did not return. He was not on the ice for Monday's morning skate and head coach Mike Sullivan announced that he has been diagnosed with a concussion. Luckily the Penguins bye week is around the corner, so Kahun could only end up missing about three games.
Kahun was an undrafted free-agent who came to North America this year after spending four years in Germany. The 23-year-old winger had 13 goals and 24 assists (37 points) in 82 games with the Blackhawks and will likely be a replacement for Matt Cullen and Garrett Wilson as a bottom-6 forward for the Penguins.
