During his time in the NHL, the 24-year-old had one goal and one assist in five games with the Senators. He will likely be a fringe roster player for the Utah Hockey Club to start the 2024-25 season.
Sokolov appeared in five games for the Ottawa Senators in 2022-23 and picked up a goal and an assist with a +2 plus/minus and signed a one-year, two-way contract extension Tuesday. The 23-year-old winger also had 21 goals, 38 assists, 72 PIMs and a -15 plus/minus through 70 games with Belleville (AHL) last season. He will provide Ottawa with more lineup depth after earning 13 games of NHL experience in the last two seasons.
Sokolov had 19 goals, 36 assists, 58 PIMs and a -19 plus/minus through 67 games played with the Belleville Senators (AHL) and has been recalled to Ottawa for the first time this season. The 22-year-old has previously played in eight NHL games before this season, with zero points and a -6 plus/minus.
Sokolov was a second-round pick in 2020 and has scored two goals with four assists (six points) in nine AHL games this season. The 21-year-old is expected to skate on the fourth line and second power-play unit, replacing Connor Brown (COVID-19) in the lineup.
