Hayes had a worthy enough training camp that he wasn’t reassigned to AHL Worcester until the Sharks had already played their season opener. He’s back already for Saturday’s game against the New Jersey Devils, where he’ll be slotted on the wing of the fourth line with Andrew Desjardins and Adam Burish, in place of John Scott.
Hayes recorded one goal and a minus-2 rating in 15 games with the Sharks. His return to the AHL opens up a spot for Adam Burish to be activated from IR.
Hayes, 25, is a 6-foot-4, 210 pound, undrafted forward who is in his second season with the Worcester Sharks. In 29 games this season he has recorded five goals and three assists. He is not expected to have any fantasy impact.
Hayes is a 6'4" 210 lbs. power forward that plays the right wing, and has pretty good athleticism for a player of his size. He posted 20 goals and 16 assists in 41 games at Minnesota State this season.
