Tonight Lundqvist will face a Wild team who have won five in a row and seven of their last eight contests.

He comes into play with a 2.25 GAA and .922 SV% on the season and will take on a Bruins team who have dropped six straight games at the worst time of the season.

The Rangers sent Mackenzie Skapski back to Hartford (AHL) today, so Lundqvist will at least dress as Cam Talbot’s backup on Thursday. There is no word who their starter will be, but the way Talbot has played in his absence gives the Rangers a scary 1-2 punch in goal heading into the playoffs. Lundqvist has gone 25-11-3 with a 2.25 GAA, .922 SV% and five shutouts this season.

Lundqvist has been out since February 2nd, but was finally back at practice on Tuesday. Cam Talbot will start on Tuesday and it will be a “stretch” for Lundqvist to be ready for Thursday’s game in Ottawa. If he can’t play Thursday, King Henrik could be ready for the Rangers back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday.

Lundqvist remains without a timetable for his return and it won’t happen this week because he will not travel with the team to New York, Washington or Buffalo. Cam Talbot will remain the Rangers workhorse while Lundqvist is out.

Lundqvist was on the ice before the Rangers practice this afternoon. Today was the first time that he has skated since suffering the neck injury on February 2nd. He is nearly two weeks into a three-week timetable, so it looks like he is right on schedule in his recovery.

There were reports earlier today that Lundqvist would miss at least one month, but the details were sparse. He was struck by a puck in the neck on Saturday and suffered some sort of damage to the blood vessels. He will miss three weeks and then be re-evaluated at that time. In the mean time, Cam Talbot receives a huge boost in fantasy value as he becomes this Rangers starter for the next three weeks.

Lundqvist was hit in the throat in Saturday’s game against Carolina. The exact nature of the injury is not known, but Henrik has been experiencing intermittent headaches. He underwent testing yesterday and the Rangers say that he did not develop a blood clot, nor is he suffering from nerve damage or post-concussion symptoms. Regardless of what his injury is, he will be sidelined for at least four weeks.

Missing practice puts Lundqvist’s status for Saturday’s game in serious doubt. The Rangers have been quiet on how long they expect him to be out, but we should get an update this afternoon. If King Henrik can’t go, look for Cam Talbot to be in goal again.

Lundqvist was scheduled to start tonight vs. the Bruins tonight, but the Rangers announced this afternoon that Henrik is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. The injury is reportedly related to the puck that hit him in the throat on Monday. The Rangers will evaluate Lundqvist and more information should be released in the next 24 hours.

Lundqvist allowed three goals on 36 shots in the Rangers 6-3 win over the Panthers on Monday. After a slow start the season, King Henrik has climbed his way to sixth in wins (25), seventh in GAA (2.25) and 10th in SV% (.922). Tonight he will likely go head-to-head with Tuukka Rask, who is also red-hot.

King Henrik was bombarded in his first start after the All Star break, but he was 14-2-0 entering Tuesday, so he is a strong option even with the tough matchup with Montreal—he is 1-1-0 with a 1.52 GAA and .941 SV% against Montreal this season.
