Nygard is already ruled out for at least two weeks, so his move to IR opens up a roster spot to recall William Lagesson from Bakersfield (AHL).

Nygard has registered one goal on nine shots in his first six career NHL games. Nygard will miss at least two weeks and Patrick Russell will replace him in the lineup on Wednesday.

Nygard, 26, is an undrafted free-agent winger who has spent seven seasons with Farjestads BK Karlstad of the Swedish Elite League. This past season, Nygard led the team in goals (21) and was third in points (35) in 52 games.
