Joe Corvo News

The Senators have loaned Joe Corvo to the Chicago Wolves (AHL).

Corvo's time with Ottawa was up and instead of sending him to Binghamton they have loaned him to the St. Louis Blues' AHL affiliate (Chicago) because Corvo is from nearby Oak Park, Illinois.

Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today the club has signed defenceman Joe Corvo to a one-year contract.

Corvo, 36, appeared in 40 games with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2012-13. He recorded 17 points (six goals, 11 assists).

Gleason-Faulk, McBain-Harrison, Sanguinetti-Bergeron the D pairs in warmups. No Corvo, so team is down a skater.

There is no word on what is going on with Corvo other than he is not on the ice. The Hurricanes who usually dress seven defenseman will play with only six d-men and 11 forwards tonight.

Between Corvo and Chara, who owns the fastest slap-shot in the NHL, the B’s should be able to create great scoring chances on the power play if they can work the puck back to the point.

Corvo played on the top power play unit to excellent results. Last season he scored 11 goals and 40 points over 82 games; 23 of those points came with the man advantage. Feel free to draft him in standard mixed leagues.
