Vermin has underwent hand surgery after injuring it early in Monday’s game in Columbus. He is out indefinitely and will likely miss close to two months. When he is healthy look for him to be back in the AHL.
Vermin had one assist in five games with the Lightning during his call-up, but his assignment to the AHL suggests that Ondrej Palat could be back in the lineup on Thursday. It could also be a paper move to save money because the Lightning had three days off in between games.
Vermin, 23, was a seventh round pick (186th overall) in 2013. The Swiss winger has 10 points (3G / 7A) in 12 games with Syracuse. Vermin could make his NHL debut on Thursday if Ryan Callahan (game-time decision) can’t play.
