Gibson allowed two goals on 41 shots in the Ducks’ win over the Islanders on Wednesday. Gibson was really busy in this one, but half firm and earned his second victory in four starts to begin the season. Gibson has a 2.79 GAA and .920 SV% so far and tonight he faces an Avalanche team that has gotten off to a surprisingly good start.

Gibson allowed two goals on 29 shots in the Ducks’ loss to Calgary on Monday. Gibson didn’t get any offence in this one and is now 1-1-1 with a 3.05 GAA and .906 SV% in three starts to begin the year. Tonight he will take on an Islanders team that is also 1-1-1 while averaging 2.67 goals for per game.

Gibson allowed three goals on 37 shots in the Ducks’ overtime loss to the Flyers on Saturday. In the early part of the season, Gibson has gone 1-0-1 with a 3.48 GAA and .896 SV% and tonight he’ll start his third straight game vs. the Flames. Calgary has opened the season 1-1-0 with six goals for.

Gibson allowed four goals on 30 shots in the Ducks’ win over Arizona on Thursday. The Ducks got off to a slow start but settled in late in the second and took over in the third. It wasn’t a great start, but Gibson will see a lot of action while he’s healthy and should win far more frequently than not.

In 2016-17, Gibson started a career-high 49 games and went 25-16-9 with a 2.22 GAA and .924 SV%. The 24-year-old has an impressive 2.22 GAA and .924 SV% in his 111 career starts and he could easily be a top-5 fantasy netminder if he could stay healthy and start 60-plus games. He will face the Coyotes in his opening night start, but the Ducks are five of their top players—Ryan Getzlaf, Ryan Kesler, Patrick Eaves, Sami Vatanen and Hampus Lindholm.

The Ducks hit the ice for practice on Monday and Gibson was not among the group. Gibson skated before the practice session and he “does his routine” according to head coach Randy Carlyle. Gibson is simply skating and stretching at this point and a return to the crease doesn’t appear imminent.

Gibson has missed the last five games with a lower-body injury, but he will travel for the Ducks’ back-to-back in Chicago and St. Louis. This is a pretty good indication that he will start one of the games, so monitor his status tomorrow afternoon.

Gibson was expected to start on Wednesday after finishing Monday's game with 14 saves in relief, but he is now day-to-day with a mysterious lower-body injury. With Gibson sidelined, Jonathan Bernier will get the nod and Jhonas Enroth has been recalled to be his backup.
