The Canadiens recalled John Scott from St. John's (AHL) on Sunday.

Scott has registered two goals, two assists and 85 PIMS in 27 games with St. John’s after being acquired from Arizona. It looks like the 2016 All-Star will finish the season with Montreal.

The NHL suspended John Scott for four games on Wednesday.

Scott was suspended for striking Ducks forward Tim Jackman in the jaw in Monday’s loss. Jackman was briefly knocked unconscious but eventually left the ice with assistance and didn’t return to the game. He is eligible to return to the lineup on January 5th in Winnipeg.

Scott was suspended seven games on Thursday by the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety for an illegal hit to the head of Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson during a game last Wednesday.

Scott had already missed three contests after being banned indefinitely last week ahead of his hearing. "Although this is not an elbow to the head, the follow-through that occurs after contact indicates to us a significant level of force delivered on this illegal check to the head," Shanahan said. "It's important to note that Eriksson does not materially change the position of his body or head just prior to or simultaneously with the hit.

Buffalo Sabres left wing John Scott will have an in-person hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety for a hit on Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson during Wednesday's game.

At 5:49 of the third period, Scott came across the ice and hit Eriksson in the neutral zone after Eriksson had moved the puck. Scott received a five-minute major for charging, as well a five-minute fighting major for an altercation with Boston's Adam McQuaid that followed the play. Eriksson received assistance leaving the ice and did not return. The Bruins announced after the game that he would be staying in Buffalo overnight for observation, but was expected to return to Boston on Thursday.
