Jonas Hiller News

Hiller starts vs. the Jets on Sunday.

Hiller was excellent, stopping 49 of 50 shots in a OT win over the Blackhawks on Wednesday. He was given Friday night off (for good reason) but will be back in goal tonight in Winnipeg. He has posted a 2.62 GAA and .934 SV% in his first three starts with the Flames.

Hiller starts Wednesday vs. Chicago.

Hiller allowed four goals on 39 shots in a 4-1 loss to the Blues on Saturday. With Karri Ramo starting on Tuesday, Hiller will get the second game of the back-to-back, but he draws the short straw again--he gets the Hawks while Ramo gets the Preds. Hiller has looked sharp to start the season, but has yet to draw a favourable matchup.

Jonas Hiller
Hiller will be in goal for the Flames.

Hiller allowed three goals on 32 shots in a loss to the Canucks on opening night. Karri Ramo got the win vs. Edmonton on the following night, but it looks like the Flames will go back to Hiller tonight, but he draws a terrible matchup vs. St. Louis. He will make for a solid number-2 fantasy netminder, but this is not a favourable matchup.

Jonas Hiller
Hiller will start the Flames season opener on Wednesday.

Hiller will make his Calgary Flames regular season debut on Wednesday vs. the Canucks. He finished the preseason with a 2-2 record, 1.51 GAA and .947 SV%. He will look to carry his preseason success into the regular season and get the Flames off to a good start against the rivals. Hiller has been a solid netminder for years in Anaheim, but it sounds like he will start the year splitting time with Karri Ramo.

Jonas Hiller
Hiller has suffered an appendicitis attack at a goalie camp in Switzerland.

It is unclear at this point whether or not Hiller will need to undergo surgery to remove his appendix. Hiller was the Flames big offseason addition and this attack should not linger into the season.

Jonas Hiller
The Flames have signed Jonas Hiller to a two-year deal worth $9 million.

Hiller, 32, was kind of pushed out of town because of Frederik Andersen and John Gibson, but he signs with a team where the crease is clearly his. He was 29-13-7 with a 2.48 GAA and .911 SV% with Anaheim last year. The Flames will be a more difficult team to play behind, but having the number-1 job secured, his fantasy value remains high.

Hiller was the first goalie off of the ice at the Ducks morning skate.

Hiller was also the first off of the ice before Game 3 on Thursday, but it was Frederik Andersen who got the start. Andersen was injured in the contest and was not on the ice this morning, which suggests it will be Hiller in goal in game 4. However, much like in game 3 when Andersen was close behind Hiller leaving the gameday sake, rookie John GIbson was not far behind HIller leaving the ice this morning. We will know the goalie come pre-game warmups.

Hiller was the first goalie off of the ice in the Ducks morning skate, but Frederik Andersen was not far behind.

Hiller allowed two goals on 16 shots in a 3-1 loss in game 2. He has given up a total of five goals on 52 shots in two games so far, but has lost both. Being down 2-0 heading to L.A may force head coach Bruce Boudreau to go with Andersen in game 3. Andersen was 3-0 against Los Angeles this season. However, Hiller being off first suggests he will start, but we will wait for warmups.

Jonas Hiller
Hiller will start in goal for the Ducks in game 2.

Hiller allowed three goals on 36 shots in a 3-2 OT loss to the Kings in game 1. With eight seconds left the Ducks were up 2-1, but Marian Gaborik tied it up at 19:53 of the third and then finished it 12:07 into OT. Hiller played very well in his first 2014 postseason start, but he will need to make that a trend because L.A has one of the best goalies in the world in the other crease.

Jonas Hiller
Hiller leads the Ducks ono the ice for game 1.

Hiller stopped all 12 shots that he faced after replacing Frederik Andersen in the game 6 OT win over the Stars. Despite not a game in the first round, the Ducks will roll with Hiller in game 1 vs. the Kings after Andersen had a shaky six games. Hiller was 1-0-1 with a 0.96 GAA and .977 SV% vs. the Kings in the regular season.

HIller starts for the Ducks.

Hiller had a roller coaster of a night on Friday. He was pulled from the game, ultimately to return for the third period after Frederik Andersen suffered an upper-body injury. Overall, he gave up four goals on 17 shots in the loss to the Preds. He will be back in net trying to right the ship after losing five of his last eight starts with a 3.46 GAA and .876 SV%.

Hiller allowed four goals on 23 shots in a loss to the Oilers last Friday. He was given the last three games off after head coach Bruce Boudreau said he was "fatigued". The 32-year-old will start vs. the Predators having gone 16-5-4 with a 2.01 GAA and .927 SV% at home this season. He is also 1-0 vs. Nashville thus far.

Jonas Hiller
Hiller is the confirmed Ducks starter.

Hiller allowed two goals on 34 shots in Wednesday's 3-2 victory over the Flames. It was a nice way for Hiller to get redemption after he was shelled in his last outing vs. Calgary. He comes into play tonight having won three of four with a 2.77 GAA and .917 SV%.

Hiller gave up three goals on 30 shots in a loss to the Capitals on Tuesday. He was given Thursday night off, a game Frederik Andersen loss, so Hiller will be between the pipes tonight. He has lost four of his last five, but draws a great matchup tonight vs. the Panthers.

Hiller allowed four goals on 38 shots in a win over the Avalanche on Friday. Hiller has given up 12 goals in his last four games, going 1-1-2 in the process. Tonight, he will start vs. Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals in Anaheim. After being unbeatable at home to start the year, Hiller has lost five of his last six starts at the Honda Center.

Hiller starts for the Ducks.

Hiller was yanked just 8:32 into Wednesday's blowout loss to the lowly Flames. He allowed three goals on five shots before being pulled, but Frederik Andersen did not perform any better (4G on 20S). Hiller will need to forget about Wednesday and try and get back on track tonight. However, it will not be easy as they take on the Avs on the road.
