The Flames have recalled Karri Ramo from Stockton (AHL).

Jonas Hiller left Wednesday’s game with a lower-body injury, so Ramo’s recall suggests that Hiller likely won’t be ready to go on Friday vs. Montreal. Look for Joni Ortio to get the start with Ramo serving as his backup.

Ramo posted a 4.38 GAA and .879 SV% in his first three starts of the season, clearly not the numbers the Flames were expecting when they signed him to a one-year, $3.8M contract this July. Jon Gillies has had a great start with Stockton, so Ramo could end up going from opening night starter to AHL backup.
