Holzer has made a living as a seventh defenseman in the NHL and that will be the role he fills in Nashville as well. He has already set a career-high in games played (46) this season but has just four points (1G / 3A) in that time. He's a small upgrade over Irwin, which is why the sixth-round pick was also sent to Anaheim.

Holzer was recalled along with Shea Theodore when Clayton Stoner and Simon Despres went down with injuries. It was believed that Theodore would make his NHL debut tonight but it will be Holzer who gets into the lineup.
Holzer, 26, is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He has plenty of size at 6-foot-3, 205 lbs and bring a physical brand of hockey, but provides little in the way of offence. Holzer had six assists in 34 games with the Maple Leafs.
Robidas will serve as a healthy scratch for the third time this season as the Maple Leafs seem to be limiting the work on the 37-year-old's body. Holzer has four assists and a plus-5 rating in 12 games this season.
Holzer, 26, has two goals one nine games with the Marlies this season. Roman Polak is expected to miss an extended period of time with a knee injury, so Holzer will get the first chance.
For now we will assume that Mike Komisarek will replace Holzer in the lineup. However they have an a roster spot open and no one on IR, so this could mean that Jake Gardiner will be recalled soon. Holzer had three points and a minus-12 in 22 games this season.
