Schenn is battling an undisclosed ailment and his status for Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Kings is up in the air. The 35-year-old Schenn is averaging 17:42 time-on-ice, recording one assist, 19 blocks, and 49 hits in nine games with the Jets this season.

The Jets acquired Luke Schenn from the Penguins for a 2026 2nd Round Pick and 2027 4th Round Pick last week before the trade deadline. The 35-year-old defenseman registered five points (1G / 4A), 76 blocks, and 228 hits in 61 games this season.

The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired Schenn in a trade from the Nashville Predators earlier this week and have immediately flipped him to the Winnipeg Jets. The Predators signed Schenn to a three-year contract with an AAV of $2.75-million ahead of the 2023-24 season. The 35-year-old defenseman registered five points (1G / 4A), 76 blocks, and 228 hits in 61 games this season.

Assuming he isn't flipped elsewhere ahead of Friday's Trade Deadline, the Penguins will become the ninth team Schenn has suited up for across his remarkable 17-year-career. The Predators signed Schenn to a three-year contract with an AAV of $2.75-million ahead of the 2023-24 season. The 35-year-old defenceman leaves Nashville after registering two goals, ten assists, 152 blocked shots and 430 hits across 124 games.

Schenn missed Game 5 due to illness but practiced in full on Thursday and is considered day-to-day ahead of their matchup on Friday. The 34-year-old veteran has appeared in four games so far with Nashville in the playoffs but is without a point, and has four SOG while averaging 15:03 TOI.

Tyson Barrie will make his playoff debut in Schenn's place. It's unknown at this time if Schenn is dealing with an undisclosed injury or if he is simply a healthy scratch.

Luke Schenn will re-enter the Predators lineup on Tuesday in favour of Tyson Barrie, who will be a healthy scratch for the fourth time in the last seven games. Schenn has zero points in nine games this season but continues to play his hard-nosed brand of hockey, tallying 30 hits and 11 blocks while averaging 14:29 time-on-ice.

Schenn's status has been up in the air after sitting out the last three games but is now been confirmed to miss the next four to six weeks with a lower-body injury. He recorded one block and four hits in 15:11 time-on-ice in his only game this season. Last season, Schenn had a league-leading 318 hits along with 22 points (4G / 18A) in 70 games. Dante Fabbro has, and will likely continue, to fill in on the back end in his absence.

Schenn presumably picked up the injury at some point during Tuesday night's opening affair with the Lightning, though there was no mention or report of an injury prior to warmups for Thursday's game against the Blues. The 33-year-old blue-liner rarely contributes offensively, but his absence will be felt in fantasy formats that reward blocked shots and hits. Dante Fabbro will slide into the lineup in place of Schenn.

The Predators are trying to change their culture, and Schenn's work ethic will help do that. The veteran defenseman had 22 points (4G / 18A) and 318 hits in seven games with the Canucks and Maple Leafs last season.
