Macklin Celebrini News

Celebrini (lower-body) will return to the Sharks' lineup on Tuesday vs. Columbus.

Celebrini had a scorching hot start to his NHL career, scoring two points (1G / 1A) in the Sharks' season-opener, but has not played since, missing 12 straight games. The first-overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft is slated to make his return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, likely skating on a line with Tyler Toffoli and Mikael Granlund.

Celebrini (lower-body) returned to practice on Thursday but is still considered week-to-week.

Celebrini, who had one goal, one assist and two SOG in his NHL debut has not played since then, missing 10 straight games. There is no direct target date for his return to gameplay but his return to practice on Thursday is a promising sign that he will return the lineup sooner than later.

Celebrini is week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

The Sharks have placed Celebrini on IR and will be without this summer's No.1 overall pick for at least a couple of weeks. This is a terrible break for Celebrini, who had one goal, one assist and two SOG in his NHL debut on Thursday. Mikael Granlund will move up and centre the top line and Klim Kostin will draw into the lineup to replace Celebrini.

Celebrini missed practice on Friday and is being evaluated for a lower-body injury.

Celebrini is battling a lower-body injury and is questionable for Saturday's game against the Anaheim Ducks. Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky would not specify if Celebrini absence is due to a new injury or something that was previously lingering. The 18-year-old Celebrini made his NHL debut on Thursday and recorded two points (1G / 1A) in a 5-4 overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues.

Celebrini (lower-body) says he is healthy and ready for his NHL debut on Thursday.

Celebrini took an awkward fall in San Jose's preseason game last week and missed some practices due to a lower-body injury but has stated he is healthy and ready for his NHL debut on Thursday. It is great news for the 18-year-old who was drafted first overall in last year's NHL entry draft after producing 32 goals and 64 points in 38 games at Boston University (NCAA).

Celebrini (lower body) left Tuesday's preseason game and did not return.

Celebrini crashed hard into the boards on Tuesday during San Jose's preseason clash vs. Utah and did not return due to a lower-body injury. If the 18-year-old is forced to delay his NHL regular season debut it will be a massive letdown after Celebrini was taken 1st overall in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and is considered one of the league's most exciting prospects. San Jose is expected to provide updates on the injury in the upcoming days.

San Jose has signed Macklin Celebrini to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Celebrini was the No.1 overall pick in this summer's NHL Draft after posting 32 goals and 32 assists (64 points) in 38 games at Boston University. The 18-year-old appears set to turn pro and join the Sharks after signing his entry-level deal after speculation he may return to college. The 18-year-old was only the fourth freshman in NCAA history to win the Hobey Baker Award as college hockey’s top player.
