The Senators have signed Magnus Paajarvi to a one-year extension worth $900K.

After starting the 2017-18 season with the Blues, Paajarvi was claimed off of waivers by the Senators mid-season and finished with eight points (6G / 2A) in 35 games with Ottawa. Paajarvi figures to be among the Senators’ top-12 forwards when the 2018-19 season rolls around.

Paajarvi was claimed off of waivers from St. Louis and will make his Ottawa debut in Carolina. Paajarvi had just four points (2G / 2A) in 44 games with the Blues before being waived. He skated with Derick Brassard and Ryan Dzingel during practice on Monday.

Paajarvi’s career hasn’t gone as expected since being drafted No.10 overall in 2009, but 2016-17 was one of his most successful seasons. The 26-year-old had 18 points (7G / 11A) in 26 AHL games and 13 points (8G / 5A) in 32 games after being called up to the Blues.

Paajarvi has scored three goals with one assist in seven games during his call-up. The Blues bye week starts today, so Paajarvi and Ivan Barbashev have been returned to Chicago, but are expected to return to the Blues before their game on Sunday.

Paajarvi sat out of the Blues’ season opener on Wednesday, but will replace Jaskin in the lineup tonight vs. the Wild. The 25-year-old former first round pick had just nine points (3G / 6A) in 48 games last year.

Paajarvi, 25, serves as a depth forward for the Blues. He worked himself in and out of the lineup during the 2015-16 season, appearing in 48 games. The former 10th overall pick had just nine points (3G / 6A) in those games while picking up seven points (4G / 3A) in seven games with Chicago (AHL).

Paajarvi has four goals and three assists in seven games with Chicago this season. He has enjoyed a nice start to the AHL season, so the Blues have recalled him to help their injury riddled lineup. He had one assist in 10 games with St. Louis last season.
