Mazanec started the 2019 season with the Rangers before being traded for a seventh-round pick in mid-February. Overall, he was 10-17-3 with a .896 SV% between Hartford and Utica (AHL). The 27-year-old netminder has spent some time in the NHL, going 8-13-4 with a 2.97 GAA and .895 SV% in 31 games (all with Nashville). Mazanec, 26, split last season between the KHL and the AHL—he was 4-15-2 with a 3.40 GAA and .900 SV% in 23 games with Brislava Slovan (KHL) and 11-6-1 with a 2.97 GAA and .905 SV% in Hartford (AHL). Mazanec is projected to be the Rangers’ backup right now, unless they sign Ondrej Pavelec or another netminder to a contract in free agency. The Czech netminder has posted a 2.97 GAA and .895 SV% in 31 career NHL games.
Mazanec didn’t get into a game during his time with the Predators, instead he allowed Juuse Saros to get playing time in the AHL during the bye week. Mazanec returns to the AHL, where he’s gone 13-11-0 with a 2.68 GAA and .908 SV%.
Mazanec, 25, and Juuse Saros continue to swap places to ensure each netminder gets playing time. Mazanec has gone 3-1-1 with a 2.73 GAA and .886 SV% in five games with Milwaukee and is 0-2-0 with a 4.73 GAA and .839 SV% with the Predators.
Mazanec has posted a 5.04 GAA and .806 SV% in two starts this season, so he went to Milwaukee (AHL) briefly, where his struggles continued. The 25-year-old went 1-0-1 with a 3.90 GAA and .849 SV% in two starts with the Admirals, but will start over Juuse Saros tonight with Pekka Rinne banged up. Avoid Mazanec against a strong Maple Leafs offence.
Mazanec is now the Predators’ third goalie, joining Pekka Rinne and Juuse Saros on the roster. Mazanec posted a 3.90 GAA and .849 SV% in two games with Milwaukee after being sent down last week. His call-up suggests that Rinne could be battling an injury.
Mazanec appeared in just two games this season, allowing seven goals on 36 shots (.806 SV%). With Mazanec struggling and Pekka Rinne being average, Juuse Saros has swapped places with Mazanec.
Mazanec, 24, spent the entire 2015-16 season in Milwaukee (AHL), where he was 19-15-5 with a 2.45 GAA and .912 SV%. Mazanec’s deal is a two-way contract, so he is expected to start the 2016-17 season in Milwaukee.
Mazanec did not suit up during his call-up with the Predators. With Carter Hutton being activated off of IR, Mazanec has been returned to the AHL.
Carter Hutton is dealing with an undisclosed injury, so Mazanec, 24, has been recalled to fill Hutton’s spot in the lineup. Mazanec has gone 2-2-1 with a 3.09 GAA and .900 SV% in five games with Milwaukee this season.
Mazanec made 25 saves on 27 shots in a loss to the Avalanche in his only start during his recall. He stopped 43 of 47 shots (.915 SV%) in one start and one relief appearance. With Mazanec heading back to the AHL, Pekka Rinne is expected to return on Thursday.
Mazanec allowed two goals on 20 shots after replacing Carter Hutton on January 17th vs. the Red Wings. He went 13-8-3 with a 2.41 GAA and .909 SV% in 25 games with Milwaukee before being recalled. He has a solid matchup against an Avs team who is 23rd in the NHL in scoring.
