Borowiecki announced his retirement via Instagram Wednesday after 12 NHL seasons with Nashville and Ottawa. The 33-year-old bruiser led the NHL in PIMs twice in his career which ended with 56 points (15G/41A), and 848 PIMs in 458 career games played.
The Predators will be without one of their most physical presences as Borowiecki misses an indefinite amount of time due to an upper-body injury. The veteran has been out since October 22nd, and has failed to collect a point through his first four games while also picking up 12 PIMs.
Borowiecki has been scratched for each of the last two games due to illness, but he will replace Jeremy Lauzon in the lineup on Thursday. Borowiecki has a plus-1 rating, one shot and five PIMS in two games this season.
Borowiecki and Jeremy Lauzon continue to alternate games, as Borowiecki will be scratched for the second time in three games. The veteran blueliner has no points and one shot while averaging 11:31 TOI/gm through his first two games.
Borowiecki played 12:48 in the Predators' season opener but was a healthy scratch in the second game. He'll replace Jeremy Lauzon on the third pair.
Borowiecki is day-to-day after blocking a shot on Tuesday and will not play on Thursday. Philippe Myers will draw into the lineup to replace Borowiecki.
Borowicecki was a healthy scratch on Wednesday but will replace Jared Tinordi tonight in Tampa Bay. Borowiecki has opened the season with one assist, a plus-2 rating and eight PIMS in six games.
After spending nine seasons with the Senators, Borowiecki sings with the Predators where he'll serve as a third-pairing defenseman. Borowiecki obviously doesn't provide anything offensively but is a big, physical force, who ranked 11th in the NHL in hits (199) last season.
