Mark Fraser News

The Oilers have signed Mark Fraser to a one-year, two-way contract.

Fraser spent all of 2015-16 in the AHL with Binghamton, where he had two goals, five assists and 136 PIMS in 60 games. He has 219 games of NHL experience with the Devils, Maple Leafs and Oilers. He returns to Edmonton, where he had one goal in 23 games back in 2013-14.

The Devils have recalled Mark Fraser from Albany (AHL).

Fraser is expected to make his Devils season debut tonight because Eric Gelinas is out with an illness and Peter Harrold is out with a face injury. Fraser has three points (1G / 2A) and 45 PIMS in 18 games with Albany this season. It will be his first game with the Devils since the 2010-11 season. He has 98 career NHL games with New Jersey.

The Oilers have acquired Mark Fraser from the Maple Leafs in exchange for Cameron Abney and the right to Teemu Hartikainen.

Fraser has been a healthy scratch in Toronto for the last 12 games. After the Maple Leafs traded for Tim Gleason, Fraser became expendable. He was likely a candidate to be placed on waivers once Dave Bolland was healthy, this trade allows them to not have to make a roster move and gives them some extra cap-space. Fraser is a physical D-man who has one assist and a minus-8 rating in 19 games this season.

Fraser (lower-body) will miss his second consecutive game tonight.

Fraser was injured in the first period of Saturday's game against the Sabres. Morgan Rielly will stay in the lineup with Fraser out. Rielly was a plus-1 in 17:45 on Tuesday. Consider Fraser questionable for Saturday versus Washington.

Mark fraser says he's good to go and hopes to get in friday against his former team.

Fraser was injured in the second contest of the season and has missed the last 13 games. The Maple Leafs have a number of capable defensemen right now so it will be interesting to see who comes out for Fraser or if he continues to sit. My guess would be Paul Ranger.

Fraser twisted his knee on a hit from Jay Rosehill and left the game and did not return.

Fraser reportedly left the arena on crutches which would suggest he may miss an extended period of time. We will wait for an update from the Maple Leafs, but this injury likely opens the door for Morgan Rielly to make his NHL debut on Saturday.
