The Hurricanes have re-signed Martin Necas to a two-year deal worth $6.5M AAV.

Necas was an RFA whose name was at the top of the trade rumours all offseason, but he signs a two-year deal to stay in Carolina through the 2026 season. The 25-year-old winger saw his production take a step back last season, as he went from 71 points (28G / 43A) in 2023 to 53 points (24G / 29A) in 2024. With Jake Guentzel and Teuvo Teravainen not returning to Carolina this summer, it opens up plenty of ice-time and opportunity for Necas to take advantage of in 2025.

Necas (upper body) will return to the Hurricanes' lineup Friday vs. Detroit

Necas has been out since January 2nd due to an upper-body injury but will return to the Hurricanes' lineup Friday vs. Detroit. The 25-year-old broke out with a 71 point campaign in 2022-23 but has failed to take another step forward this season with just nine goals and 26 points in 38 games prior to the injury.

Necas (upper body) was a full participant in practice Wednesday.

Necas has been sidelined for the last five games due to an upper-body injury, but was a full participant at practice on Wednesday, skating alongside Jack Drury and Stefan Noesen. Before his injury, Necas was amid a dry spell, scoring only three points (0G / 3A) in his last eight games.

Necas (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision on Friday.

Necas was held out of Thursday's practice because he was not feeling well and will be a game-time decision vs. the Flyers. Necas was not on the ice for the morning skate, so he looks like a true game-time call. Monitor his status when the Hurricanes' hit the ice for warmups at 6:30 PM ET.

Necas will not play Sunday due to an upper-body injury.

Head coach Rod Brind'Amour said that Necas is going to be "out for a little while, but I don't think it's going to be very long." It sounds like Necas will miss at least a couple of games but that the injury isn't overly serious, which is good news. Teuvo Teravainen moved up with Vincent Trocehck in Saturday's practice with Necas unavailable.

Necas (undisclosed) practiced on Friday; could play in Game 1.

Necas hasn't been on the ice much during the NHL's Return to Play Program but head coach Rod Brind'Amour said that he "looked really good" on Frida and has not ruled him out for Game 1 on Saturday. Monitor Necas' status as the Hurricanes hit the ice for warmups at 11:30 am ET.

Necas will make his NHL debut in Edmonton on Tuesday.

Necas was the No.12 overall pick this summer and sat out the first three games of the season, but will make his debut tonight in Edmonton. Necas is a gifted offensive player, who collected 15 points (7G / 8A) in 41 games with Brno Kometa of the Czech league last season. Necas likely won’t stick with the Hurricanes, but he will get a chance to get some NHL experience under his belt and could see a handful of games. He has a some intrigue in daily contests tonight because he will be playing with Sebastian Aho and Elias Lindholm—a very dynamic trio that could make some noise vs. Oilers’ backup Laurent Brossoit.
