Puempel will be back in the Rangers' lineup on Thursday.

Puempel has been a healthy scratch in four straight games, but will draw back into the lineup on Thursday. Puempel has six goals and one assist (seven points) in 18 games since being claimed from Ottawa. He will replace Pavel Buchnevich in the lineup.

Puempel has missed the last eight games with a concussion, but was cleared to play Sunday in Detroit. After serving as a healthy scratch yesterday, Puempel will replace Kevin Hayes (lower-body), who was hurt vs. the Red Wings. Puempel has scored five goals and one assist (six points) in 13 games since being claimed by the Rangers.

Puempel was on the ice on Wednesday and said after the skate that he is “feeling good” but will remain in New York while the Rangers head to Toronto. With Jesper Fast out and Puempel not ready to go, look for Oscar Lindberg to draw into the lineup tomorrow.

Puempel, 23, was a first round pick (24th overall) in 2011, but has yet to make a splash at the NHL level. He has failed to record a point in 13 games with the Senators this season. Puempel had 17 goals and 13 assists (30 points) in 34 games with Binghamton (AHL) last year and has been claimed by the Rangers because they’ll be without Mika Zibanejad for 6-8 weeks.

Puempel, 23, was the 24th overall pick in 2011, but has yet to have a big impact at the NHL level. The 6-foot, 190 lbs. forward has been limited to bottom-6 minutes in his first 39 career NHL games—he has six points (4G / 2A). However, during the time he was with Binghamton (AHL) last year, he had an impressive 30 points (17G / 13A) in just 34 games. He should be a key member of the Senators bottom-6 to start 2016-17.

Puempel, 22, has one goal in 11 games with the Senators this season, but has registered 24 points (13G / 11A) in 29 games with Binghamton. With Mike Hoffman and Kyle Turris questionable for Thursday’s game, Puempel is expected to be back in the lineup.

Puempel has scored three goals and two assists (five points) in six games with Binghamton this season. He has been recalled because the Senators will be without Mike Hoffman and Curtis Lazar tonight. Puempel will skate on the Sens’ second line—he has scored two goals with one assist in 13 career NHL games.

Puempel has been on the verge of cracking the Senators roster for awhile now, but can’t seem to quite get there. His demotion comes after ht has two assists and seven shots in five preseason games and it also suggests that Clarke MacArthur is ready to play in the season opener.

This is a tough break for Puempel, who’s NHL career was off to a nice start. He had just been moved to the Senators top-6 for Saturday’s game and he recorded one assist before suffering the ankle injury. He could be back before the end of the regular season.

Puempel missed the morning skate and will miss tonight’s game with a lower-body injury that he suffered on Saturday. He will be replaced in the lineup by Zack Smith and Mike Hoffman will take his place with Mika Zibanejad and Bobby Ryan.

Puempel, 22, was a first round pick (24th overall) in 2011. He has 12 goals and 20 assists (32 points) in 51 games with Binghamton this season. He is expected to make his NHL debut on Saturday vs. the Panthers. Puempel skated with David Legwand and Alex Chiasson in Sens practice on Friday.
