The Kings signed Michael Latta to a one-year deal worth $600K.

Latta, 25, had 89 points in his final year in the OHL, but has been limited to a fourth line role during his NHL career. In 113 career games with the Capitals, he had just 17 points (4G / 13A). Latta will likely find himself in the exact same role in Los Angles this season.

Latta suffered an upper-body injury in Tuesday's win in Columbus.

Latta left the game after playing just 3:38 and did not return. He got in a fight with Justin Falk, but there is no word if he suffered the injury in that bout. If he can’t go on Thursday, expect Brooks Laich to return to the lineup.

The Capitals have reassigned Michael Latta to Hershey (AHL).

Latta has played in 16 games with the Capitals this season, recording one goal and three assists while averaging 7:52 TOI. His return to the AHL means that Jay Beagle should stay in the lineup tonight and either Brooks Laich or Martin Erat will slide back in.

The Capitals have recalled Michael Latta from the Hershey Bears (AHL)

Latta made his NHL debut in the season opener at Chicago but was assigned to the Bears before he could make a second appearance after Washington picked up defenseman Alexander Urbom off waivers. He recorded a goal and an assist in Hershey’s season opener Saturday night, a 4-3 overtime loss to the Adirondack Phantoms.

Latta, 21, has eight goals and 26 assists in 67 games with Milwaukee (AHL) this season. He was drafted by the Predators in the third round (79th overall) in 2009.
