Rantanen was acquired by Dallas in a trade from the Carolina Hurricanes ahead of the tread deadline in exchange for Logan Stankoven and several high-end draft picks. The 28-year-old Rantanen immediately signed an eight-year, $96 million extension ($12 million AAV) and is expected to make his debut with Dallas on Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers. Rantanen is coming off consecutive 100+ point seasons in Colorado and instantly makes the Dallas Stars a Stanley Cup favorite. Rantanen is poised to suit up on the Stars' top line with Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz.
