Nate Thompson has announced his retirement after 15 NHL seasons.

Thompson announced Thursday that he is bringing an end to his 15-year NHL career which ends with 65 goals, 99 assists, 906 SOG, 401 PIMs and a -67 plus/minus through 844 games played. The 28-year-old was drafted by Boston in the sixth-round of the 2003 NHL Draft (183rd overall) and represented 10 NHL teams throughout his career.

Thompson had shoulder surgery on Tuesday and will miss a “substantial amount of time."

Thompson hurt his shoulder vs. the Hurricanes on Friday and is out indefinitely after undergoing surgery on Tuesday. Even with Kevin Hayes back in the mix, Thompson's injury likely means that Morgan Frost will remain with the team.

The Flyers have acquired Nate Thompson from the Canadiens for a fifth-round draft pick.

Philadelphia will be the eighth different team Thompson has played for across his 13-year career. He registered four goals and 10 assists in 63 games with Montreal this season, playing almost exclusively on the fourth-line. He's expected to see similar usage with the Flyers.

In his first full season with the Kings, Thompson has four goals and two assists (six points) in 53 games. Thompson is a hard-working, fourth liner while has averaged 12:55 TOI/gm. His 64.9 D-zone start% hurts but a 43.4 CorsiFor% and -5.9 CF%rel are absolutely disastrous rates.

Thompson (lower-body) will not play on Tuesday.

Thompson has missed some time with a lower-body injury earlier this season and has re-aggravated the injury. Thompson joins Mark Stone, Derick Brassard, Bobby Ryan and Gabriel Dumont as injured Senators forwards, so they will go with 11 forwards and seven defensemen tonight—a call-up from Binghamton (AHL) will be made this afternoon as well.

The Ducks recalled Nate Thompson (Achilles) from his conditioning stint with San Diego (AHL).

Thompson has not appeared in a game this season, but went to San Diego on a conditioning stint after being cleared to return from an Achilles injury. Thompson registered one assist in three AHL games and could make his season debut on Tuesday.
