Parenteau (upper-body) will not play on Saturday vs. Pittsburgh.

The Canadiens traded Daniel Briere to the Avalanche in exchange for P.A Parenteau and a 2015 fifth-round selection.

There were rumblings of a possible trade in the middle of the season, but the Avs waited until the offseason to ship him for a veteran forward. Parenteau missed 27 games with a knee injury in 2013-14 and finished the year with 14 goals and 19 assists (33 points) in 55 games. He will look to land a top-6 role in Montreal. The trade has no effect on the salary cap of either team for the 2014-15 season, with Briere and Parenteau each scheduled to make $4 million. The difference is Parenteau has an extra year on his contract with Briere entering the final season of his.

Parenteau (knee) expected to return on Friday.

Parenteau missed his 14th consecutive game Tuesday night but is on schedule to play Friday at San Jose, the night after Colorado visits Vancouver. He suffered the same injury to his other knee Dec. 29 against the same opponent, and missed 12 of the next 15 games.

Parenteau injured his right knee on his first shift in the first period Monday against the Winnipeg Jets. Parenteau will likely miss the remainder of the regular season, but could return for the playoffs. Parenteau missed 10 games because of an MCL injury to his left knee earlier this season. He has 14 goals and 19 assists in 53 games. Head coach Patrick Roy said the Avalanche will call up forwards Paul Carey and Brad Malone from Lake Erie (AHL).

Parenteau (knee) will return to the Avalanche lineup tonight.

Parenteau missed 10 games with an MCL injury, but will return tonight vs. the Maple Leafs. He will be eased into the lineup and skate on the Avs fourth line with Patrick Bordeleau and Marc-Andre Cliche. On a busy Tuesday he should probably be left on the bench until his role is expanded.

Parenteau (knee) said after today's practice that he is targeting a return for Tuesday's game vs. Toronto.

Parenteau has missed the last nine games, but returning on Tuesday would be way ahead of schedule. He was not originally expected to be back until February, which likely meant after the Olympics. He could be avaialble on the waiver wire because he was expected to miss six weeks.

Parenteau seems on track to return to the lineup much sooner that originally expected after suffering a sprained medial collateral ligament against Winnipeg on December 29.

Parenteau's original timetable was six weeks, but it sounds like he is in-line to return sooner than that. It has already been over two weeks so there is a chance he could be back by early February.

Parenteau was injured on Sunday night and will be out until mid-February. The Avalanche could make a roster move in the next 24 hours, but for now expect Brad Malone to slide into the lineup and Jamie McGinn to see increased minutes.

Parenteau left Sunday's game with a knee injury and did not return.

Parenteau collided with Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba and went down awkwardly. He retired to the dressing room after playing 12:24 in 2-1 OT loss. It seems unlikely that he will play on Tuesday after it was reported that he left the arena on crutches.
