It's hard to believe that anybody would invest in the oft-injured goaltender.
Rick DiPietro News
Kevin Poulin has been recalled to backup Nabokov.
Dipietro signed a 15-year $67.5 million dollar contract in 2006. It is unlikely that anyone will claim Dipietro and he will go to the AHL.
Nabokov gave up all 7 goals today in a 7-0 loss to the Flyers. DiPietro will start tomorrow vs. Ottawa. He has played in 2 games and has given up 9 goals on 57 shots (.842 SV%). I wouldn't recommend using him as a spot start.
This will be the former #1 overall picks second start of the year. He didn't fair so well in his first start giving up 4 goals on 27 shots against Boston. The match-up is a little easier this time around as he will face the Hurricanes. I still wouldn't recommend him as a spot start.
Nabokov wasn't at the morning skate so there are no early indicators of who will start the game. This could come down to a gametime decision.
This will be DiPietro's first start of the season. Nabokov has played will so far this season making him the clear #1 but in a back-to-back situation it makes sense for DiPietro to make his first start of the year.
Very safe to drop DiPietro across all formats.
...and water is wet.
DiPietro was hurt while hurt. Don't expect him to lace them up any time soon.
There must be a chance that DiPietro can at least backup Evgeni Nabokov over the next three game. The former 1st overall pick has been limited to eight appearances this season.
DiPi last played on December 3rd but won his last start. In fact, the former 1st overall pick only lost two of his eight appearances despite a below average 3.73 GAA.
DiPi can come off IR at any time but has no fantasy hockey value until healthy.
DiPietro was injured in Saturday night's game and is expected to miss a significant amount of time with his most recent ailment. Drop him if you own him for any reason.
DiPietro's health was already questionable as Al Montoya has been getting the bulk of the team's starts. Expect the Isles to make a corresponding roster move and for DiPi to remain sidelined for a spell.
Over six career starts against the Stars, DiPi holds a 2-2-2 record with a 2.80 GAA, .902 SV% and one shutout.
