Josi will miss his sixth consecutive game with an upper-body injury, but he appears close to returning to the lineup. The fact that he travelled with the team suggests he could play Thursday in Pittsburgh.
Roman Josi News
Josi missed the Predators' previous game due to an undisclosed injury and will not play Tuesday vs. Buffalo as he is considered day-to-day with the injury. The 32-year-old is a massive loss for the Predators, as he leads the team in points with his 18 goals and 59 points through 67 games prior to the injury.
Josi suffered an undisclosed injury Saturday vs. Winnipeg and is questionable to play Sunday. The Predators did not have an update on his status post-game so consider him a game-time decision for Sunday.
The Predators had an outbreak before the Christmas break, so on the day where they activated six skaters, they also added three new players to the protocol list, including Josi.
Josi was in the final year of his seven-year deal that carried a $4.0M AAV cap-hit. Josi will go from being one of the biggest bargains to the third-highest paid defenseman when his new contract kicks in. Josi is currently tied for second among defensemen in points with 13 (5G / 8A) in 11 games.
Josi is expected to miss his fourth consecutive game tonight vs. the Ducks. The Predators have been rotating people out of the lineup to give them rest, so they’re definitely not going to rush Josi back in. He was on the ice for the morning skate, but skated as an extra.
When Josi originally missed Friday’s game in Vancouver, the Predators called it rest but now he will miss his third straight game with an upper-body injury. The injury likely isn’t overly serious and the Predators are just being cautious with their captain given their position in the standings.
Josi missed the last three games with a lower-body injury, but was on the ice for the Predators’ morning skate and could return to the lineup tonight vs. Colorado. The Predators were able to go 2-0-1 without Josi, so getting him back will make them that much better. He is still looking for his first point after being held pointless with seven shots and a minus-3 rating in his first two games.
Josi stepped out onto the ice for the Predators morning skate, but took part on the fourth pairing and will be held out of the lineup for the second straight day. With Josi out, Samuel Girard will remain in the lineup. Josi said that he doesn’t expect his injury to keep him out for long.
Josi missed Monday’s practice for “maintenance” but was also not on the ice for today’s morning skate which puts his status for tonight’s game in question. Samuel Girard is expected to make his NHL debut tonight regardless of Josi’s status. Monitor Josi’s status during pre-game warmups.
