St.Louis added a strong veteran presence on Wenesday as it added 39-year-old Ryan Suter on a one-year, $775,000 deal. The grizzled defensemen played in all 82 games with Dallas in 2023-24, picking up two goals, 17 points, and a +14 plus/minus while still avergaing 18:56 TOI/GP. Suter currently ranks first amongst active players in games played (1444) as he enters his 20th NHL season with his fourth team.

Suter was entering the final year of a four-year deal that carried a $3.65M AAV cap-hit. According to Cap Friendly, the buyout will cost the Stars $783.3K in 2025 and $1.4333M in 2026. At age 39, Suter once again appeared in all 82 regular season games, scoring two goals with 15 assists (17 points).

Adding Suter, Jamie Benn and Luke Glendening to the COVID-19 reserve list brings the total to 11 Stars currently in protocol. It seems highly unlikely that Sunday's game in Arizona will be played.

The Wild signed Suter to a 13-year, $98M contract in 2012 and bought out the final four years on Tuesday. Suter will count against the Wild's cap until 2028-29, carrying a $2.372M cap-hit in 2021-22.

Suter was injured late in the second period after his leg slammed into the boards following a hit from Remi Elie. Suter, who had to be helped off of the ice, is going to be sidelined for an extended period of time and this is devastating to the Wild’s playoff hopes.

Suter left Tuesday’s game in Winnipeg after playing just 10:20 TOI. Suter doesn’t miss time, so expect him to do everything he can to be ready for Thursday’s game in Columbus. Monitor his status during the morning skate.

Despite missing practice on Wednesday, Suter was back on the ice on Thursday morning and will be in the lineup tonight vs. the Flames.

Suter missed Wednesday’s practice due to general soreness, but he is on the ice this afternoon and it looks like he will play vs. the Flames.

Suter missed the last two games because of a suspension for his elbow on Steve Downie last Tuesday. He will be back in the lineup tonight paired with Jonas Brodin. He has one goal and 22 assists (23 points) in 40 games this season, but has just one assist in his last 10.

Suter will miss the Wild's game against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday and against the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday in St. Paul. He will forfeit $81,058.72 in salary because of the suspension. The Wild called up Matt Dumba from the American Hockey League on Wednesday and will insert Jon Blum into the lineup Thursday.

Suter has missed the last two games with mumps, but was on the ice for the Wild’s practice on Monday and is expected to return to the lineup on Tuesday. He has 13 points (1G / 12A) in 23 games this season.

Suter took part in the Wild’s morning skate which was a good sign that he might play, but the Wild will wisely hold him out tonight and allow him to have the weekend to recover because they are off until next Tuesday. Chrisitan Folin is expected to remain in the lineup for Suter.

Suter missed Wednesday’s game and Thursday’s practice with an illness which has now been diagnosed as mumps. Despite mumps keeping many other players out for multiple games, head coach Mike Yeo would not rule Suter out for tomorrow, saying “it affects people differently.” While it is good to hear he might play tomorrow, the most likely scenario is that he sits and rests over the weekend since the Wild are off until Tuesday following tomorrow’s game.

Suter underwent blood-work on Tuesday to determine whether or not surer has the mumps virus. There is no word on how long the Wild expect Suter to be out, but he will for sure miss tonight’s game which means Christian Folin is in.

Suter missed Tuesday's practice and did not take part in the Wild's morning skate. He is "doubtful at a minimum" according to head coach Mike Yeo, so expect Suter to sit tonight vs. the Canadiens. If he sits expect Christian Folin to be in the lineup.
