Britain, 24, served as James Reimer’s backup on Saturday, but with Roberto Luongo (upper-body) ready to go tonight, Brittain returns to the ECHL, where he is 15-5-0 with a 2.62 GAA and .911 SV% this season.
Brittain, 24, has gone 15-5-0 with a 2.62 GAA and .911 SV% in 22 games in the ECHL. Brittain has been recalled to backup James Reimer after Roberto Luongo was injured in warmups last night.
Brittain, 22, has never even started an AHL game, but this is his second recall of the season. He has gone 14-11-1 with a 2.71 GAA and .895 SV% with Cincinnati this season. With both Roberto Luongo and Al Montoya getting injured last night, Brittain would serve as Dan Ellis’ backup last if neither of them can go.
Brittain got to travel and practice with the team for the early part of the week while Al Montoya was with his wife during the birth of their child.
Panthers’ backup goaltender flew back to Florida to be with his wife for the birth of their child, so Brittain will join the team for practice in Vancouver. Montoya is expected to join the team before Thursday’s game, but if he doesn’t, Brittain will backup Roberto Luongo.
