Scott Hartnell News

Scott Hartnell will play today for the #Flyers

Hartnell will return to the Flyers lineup tonight for the first time since early January. Hartnell has only played in three games this season and as the teams leading goal scorer last season (37) he will be a huge addition for the Flyers. He may have been dropped in your league because of the injury, if so it would be a good idea to add him.

Scott Hartnell can't damage his foot by playing. His return to game action will be determined by how much pain he can tolerate.

This is good news for Hartnell and the Flyers because he can't damage his foot further by playing. As long as Hartnell can take the pain he may return sooner than originally expected (4-6 weeks.) It has only been two weeks and his cast has already been removed, he could be back at the front end of that timetable.

“Everything came back perfectly ok,” said Hartnell. “Yeah I was a little worried and you know it gets in your head a little bit too… but I feel good and I’m glad the test was ok.”

Sounds like the rugged winger is OK and should be back on the ice shortly. Hartnell scored 25 goals and 49 points last season for the Flyers, accruing 142 PIM in the process. Expect similar production across the board playing alongside Daniel Briere.

Hartnell's heart rate has since gone down, Holmgren said, but the Flyers did not want to take any chances. The veteran winger will sit out Monday's exhibition against the Rangers as a precaution. He did not play in the third period on Friday.
