The Capitals re-signed Shane Gersich to a one-year, $700K contract extension.
Gersich, 22, is a former fifth-round pick who turned pro last season after three years at the University of North Dakota. Gersich had eight goals and 16 assists (24 points) in 66 games with Hershey (AHL) and had one assist in his first three NHL games.
Line Change
Gersich is expected to replace Tom Wilson (suspended) in the Capitals lineup for Game 4.

Gersich, 21, was a fifth round pick in 2014 and has finished his junior year at the University of North Dakota, where he had 13 goals and 16 assists (29 points) in 40 games. He is expected to join the Capitals right away.
