Edvinsson has a goal, four SOG, six PIMs and a -1 plus/minus through three games played but will be a healthy scratch Tuesday vs. Pittsburgh. The 20-year-old will be replaced by Gustav Lindstrom in the Wings' lineup.
Edvinsson missed the Red Wings' previous game with a lower-body injury and will be a game-time decision Thursday but also will not play if Gustav Lindstrom (GTD) is able to play. The 20-year-old has no points and one SOG through two games so far this season.
Edvinsson left Monday's game after a hit from Radko Gudas but was able to return and finish the game. Head coach Derek Lalonde said that Edvinsson is not feeling very good, so he's questionable to play Tuesday. With Gustav Lindstrom also banged up, the Red Wings may need to recall a defenseman if both are unavailable.
Edvinsson has five goals, 22 assists, 50 PIMs and a -3 plus/minus through 51 games with Grand Rapids (AHL) and has been recalled for the first time to the Detroit Red Wings. The 20-year-old was the Red Wings' 2021 first-round (sixth overall) pick.
Edvinsson was the No.6 overall pick in 2021 and enjoyed a solid preseason, recording one assist with 10 shots on goal in five games. Edvinsson will start the season in the AHL but will likely be the first defenseman to be called up when the Red Wings need a blueliner.
