Steve Staios News

Staios played 17:57 in Montreal last night but was feeling symptoms of a concussion this morning and missed practice getting examined. He is definitely out of tomorrow night's game against the Stars per NHL concussion protocol, which means the team will be calling up a sixth defenseman from Bridgeport.

Staios added a veteran presence and depth to the Isles blue line but was likely past his glory days. With five assists in 28 games he has no fantasy hockey value.

It's official: The New York Islanders have signed Steve Staios to a one-year contract, which ESPN's Katie Strang reports is for $800,000 and TSN's Darren Dreger reports includes potential bonuses that could push it to $1.2 million -- even $1.6 million "if" the Islanders win the Stanley Cup.

Staios should help solidify the team's defense but has never scored more than eight goals and 28 points in a season. Pass in every possible format.
