Right winger Tomas Kubalik, who played on the No. 1 line with Jeff Carter and captain Rick Nash, was among the cuts today as the Blue Jackets moved closer to setting their opening-night roster.
No immediate fantasy hockey value in the AHL.
Kubalik appeared to be in the driver's seat early in camp - even ahead of Johansen - but his concussion sidetracked him. He's ready to go now, but if he takes a while to get up to speed, Springfield could be his destination, if only temporarily
As we know from concussions, players are out indefinitely until passing baseline tests. The Czech winger scored 24 goals in 76 games last season for the Springfield Falcons. He was expected to earn a scoring-line role but may have fell on the depth chart due to his health.
Meanwhile, Tomas Kubalik has been diagnosed with a concussion after he collided with Winnipeg's Jason Gregoire in the first period of a 6-1 Blue Jackets loss on Tuesday in Winnipeg.

Kubalik was shaken up during yesterday's exhibition game against the Jets. The winger could be held out for a few days for precautionary measures.
Arniel said Kubalik was examined by doctors at the MTS Centre, and was feeling better after the game. He'll face another exam on Wednesday in Columbus.
Kubalik originally practiced on the Rick Nash and Jeff Carter line. He could return shortly to the team but will need to pass baseline tests.
