Varone continues to put up impressive numbers at the AHL level, collecting 11 goals and 17 assists (28 points) in 22 games this season. This is one year after leading the Phantoms with 70 points (23G / 47A) in 74 games. Varone could get a chance to make his Flyers debut on their five-game road-trip.
There are reports that Mark Stone suffered an injury in last night’s game against the Coyotes and that is why Varone has been recalled. Varone, 25, did not record a point in three games and has been sent to Binghamton, where he had 23 points (6G / 17A) in 21 games a season ago. With Varone back in the AHL, Matt Puempel will likely get into the lineup or Thomas Chabot will play as a seventh defenseman.
Varone has 19 points (5G / 14A) in 18 games with Binghamton since being acquired from Buffalo. Tonight he will make his Ottawa debut vs. the Bruins. He has nine points (5G / 4A) in 42 career NHL games.
Varone, 25, was a fifth round pick (147th overall) in 2009. He has 32 points (13G / 19A) in 44 games with the Americans (AHL) this season and two points (1G / 1A) in five games with the Sabres.
Varone, 24, has been recalled because the Sabres are without Zemgus Girgensons and Tyler Ennis. He has registered two goals in seven games with the Sabres this season. While in Rochester, he has 43 points (14G / 29A) in 52 games.
Varone, 24, had two goals in seven games with the Sabres. Varone heads back to the AHL where he has 29 points (8G / 21A) in 36 games.
Varone was sent down on Saturday morning, likely because of cap reasons because the Sabres were off until Tuesday, but he is back and expected to be in the lineup on Tuesday.
Varone, 24, scored two goals on Thursday against the Hurricanes. Those were the only two points he registered in the three games during his recall.
