Bartley, 28, split his 2015-16 with the Predators and Canadiens’ organizations, spending more of his time in the AHL. He had one goal and three assists in 24 AHL games with Milwaukee and St. John’s. He signs with Minnesota, where he will likely start the year in Iowa.
Victor Bartley News
Bartley has picked up two goals and two assists in 10 games with St. John’s since being acquired from Nashville. This is his first stint with the Canadiens, but has appeared in one NHL game this season and 112 games since 2012. He has 23 career points (1G / 22A) and will likely remain with the Habs with Tom Gilbert (knee) out for the season.
Bartley has not appeared in a game with the Canadiens since being acquired in the Jarred Tinordi trade. This is the reason why the Canadiens made the deal. Bartley is waiver exempt and Tinordi would have needed to clear waivers to be sent down. He is expected to play with St. John’s over the weekend and could return to the Habs next week.
Bartley has only appeared in one game this season, so he heads to the AHL to get some game action. Bartley had 10 assists in 37 games last season, but this will be his first AHL action since 2012-13.
Bartley will get into the lineup for the first time this season because Ryan Ellis is out with a knee injury. Bartley is not known for his offence having registered just 23 points (1G / 22A) in 111 career NHL games.
Bartley was a healthy scratch when Ryan Ellis returned on Thursday, but will be back in the lineup tonight with Ellis back out. Bartley will be paired with Seth Jones—he has registered nine assists in 32 games.
Bartley has been healthy scratch for the Predators previous five games, but will dress tonight vs. the Islanders. In 12 games this season he has not registered a point while averaging 13:40 TOI on the Predators third pair.
Bartley, 24, leads Milwaukee defensemen and is ranked among the AHL’s Top 20 defensemen in points with 26 (7g-19a) in 54 games.
