Xavier Ouellet News
Ouellet was recalled from Laval (AHL) and will make his season debut on Monday. Ouellet will replace Victor Mete, who was replacing Ben Chiarot (hand) for the last two games.
In his first two seasons with the Canadiens, Ouellet has appeared in a combined 31 NHL games and 86 AHL games. Most recently, he had nine goals and 15 assists (24 points) in 39 games with Laval (AHL). With the addition of Joel Edmundson, Noah Juulsen back at 100 percent and Alexander Romanov coming over from Russia, Ouellet is pushed down the depth chart.
Ouellet has missed the last three games with a concussion but is expected to replace Karl Alzner vs. the Hurricanes. Ouellet has just one assist in seven NHL games this season.
There has been a flu bug going around the Canadiens dressing room so Ouellet could step into the lineup on Thursday. The 26-year-old defenseman has not played in the NHL this season but has 160 career games under his belt. He has scored nine goals with 15 assists (24 points) in 39 AHL games this season.
Ouellet’s deal is worth $700K at the NHL-level but the 25-year-old played just 19 games with Montreal last season. Ouellet spent most of the year with Laval (AHL), where he posted seven goals and 21 assists (28 points) in 47 AHL games.
With the Canadiens getting healthy, Ouellet was waived on Friday. The 25-year-old had three assists in 19 games with the Habs earlier this season but will head to the AHL for the first time since 2016.
Ouellet was a healthy scratch for the last two games, but will replace Mike Reilly tonight in Calgary. Ouellet has just three assists while averaging 17:21 TOI/gm in 16 games this season.
Ouellet has been a healthy scratch for the last five games, but will replace Ryan Sproul in the lineup on Sunday. Ouellet has one assist in four games this season, he will play with Brendan Smith.
Ouellet collected one assists with five shots and a plus-2 rating while averaging 14:47 TOI in the first four games of the season. Tonight he will be replaced by Ryan Sproul, who will be making his season debut.
With Jonathan Ericsson questionable for Sunday's game, it looks like the Red Wings will give Ouellet a shot to make his season debut instead of reinserting Jakub Kindl into the lineup. Ouellet has 17 points (3G / 14A) In 38 games with Grand Rapids this season and three points (2G / 1A) in 25 career NHL games.
