Trotman returns to the AHL because Justin Schultz is set to return to the lineup on Friday. Trotman has no points in five NHL games but has five points (2G / 3A) in eight games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Trotman was a healthy scratch on Wednesday but will replace Chad Ruhwedel on Friday night. Trotman has no points, three shots and a plus-1 rating while playing 18:20 ATOI in three games this season.

Trotman, 28, splits 2018-19 season between the AHL and NHL. During his brief time with the Penguins, Trotman had one assist in 13 games. He scored one goal with four assists (five points) in 24 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, where he will likely start the 2019-20 campaign.

Trotman is expected to be plugged right into the Penguins lineup on Tuesday with both Kris Letang and Brian Dumoulin out, and Erik Gudbranson unavailable due to visa issues. The 28-year-old defenseman has five points (1G / 4A) in 24 AHL games this season.

With Justin Schultz returning to the lineup from a concussion, the Penguins had to clear a roster spot to activate him from IR.

Trotman played in the last three games, failing to record a point while averring 12:47 TOI/GM, but will be replaced by Frank Corrado tonight—he was a minus-3 in the Penguins loss in Winnipeg on Sunday.

Trotman has two assists in four games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) so far this season and 12 points (3G / 9A) in 67 career NHL games with the Bruins. The 27-year-old blueliner will step in for Justin Schultz, who is out with a concussion.

With Matt Hunick fighting an injury, Trotman comes up presumably to be an extra defenseman. The 27-year-old has two assists in four games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season and just 12 points (3G / 9A) in 67 career NHL games with the Bruins.

Trotman, 25, served as the Bruins’ seventh-defenseman in 2015-16, collecting seven points (2G / 5A) in 38 games. Trotman has offensive ability, but has not been given a chance through 67 career NHL games. He will likely start the season as the Kings’ seventh defenseman.

Trotman, 24, has two goals and 10 assists (12 points) in 38 games with Providence tho season. In 17 games with the Bruins, he has collected four assists. Dougie Hamilton left Saturday’s game, so there is a chance that Trotman plays tonight.

Trotman did not get into a game during his most recent recall. With Trotman going down the Bruins have just six active defensemen.

Trotman was sent down when Kevan Miller was reactivated, but with Adam McQuaid out for 6-8 weeks, Trotman has been recalled as the Bruins’ seventh defenseman again.

Trotman had two assists with a minus-1 rating while averaging 15:16 TOI in nine games during his recall. It was a good stint for the 24-year-old, who has been returned to the AHL because Kevan Miller is set to return from a shoulder injury.

Trotman, 24, was the final pick in the 2010 NHL Draft. The 6-foot-3, 219 lbs. defenseman is a physical presence on the back-end, but has limited offensive upside. He along with Joe Morrow will fill-in on the Bruins blueline as they try to fill the massive hole left by Zdeno Chara's knee injury.

Trotman's recall suggests that neither Adam McQuaid or Dougie Hamilton will return for Saturday's game. If one of them improve over the next two days, Trotman will be returned to the AHL.

Trotman played 13:19 while recording one shot and two hits in the Bruins loss on Monday. Trotman has skated in 32 games for Providence this season and recorded four goals and seven assists and a team best plus-13 rating.
