Michalek returns to the lineup and should play a top four role for the Pens. This current configuration may be the healthiest this team has been in the 2011 calendar year.
Stepping back onto the ice is a positive sign that he will return shortly. The Czech defenseman has only played in 10 of the team's 18 games, registering a goal and three points.
Should Michalek be out of the lineup for an extended period, the Pens would be hurting even more. His 21:59 of ice time currently is third behind only Kris Letang and Paul Martin. Stay tuned for a further update on the blue-liner and who will replace him.
Michalek posted five goals and 19 points in his first season with the Pens. While not necessarily an offensive defenseman, he could top those totals with more offensive minutes.
