Zellweger will be a healthy scratch on Sunday in Vegas.

Zellweger will go from the Ducks' top powerplay unit to the press box on Sunday after it was announced he would be a healthy scratch in Vegas. The 21-year-old had only 16 shifts and 13:43 TOI in the Ducks' opening season win and will be replaced by Urho Vaakanainen in game two of the season.

Husso has been placed on waivers on Sunday.

Three days after allowing four goals on 14 shots (.714 SV%) in the Red Wings' season opener, Ville Husso has been placed on waivers. The 29-year-old carries a $4.75 million cap hit this season and is expected to be sent to Grand Rapids if unclaimed on Monday.

Lundestrom (lower-body) had to be helped off the ice at Thursday's practice.

Lundestrom collided with Leo Carlsson at practice on Thursday and was down on the ice for several minutes before being assisted off. The 25-year-old Lundestrom is in his sixth season with the Ducks after scoring 11 points (5G / 6A) in 46 games last season.

Husso will start Detroit's season opener on Thursday vs. Pittsburgh.

The Red Wings enter the 2024-25 campaign without a firm starting netminder. Cam Talbot and Alex Lyon are both in the mix for heavy workloads this season but Husso will get the first opportunity to showcase his talents in their season opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday. The 29-year-old Husso spent most of the 2023-24 campaign battling injuries and was unreliable when called upon, posting a 3.55 GAA and .892 SV% in a limited 19-game sample size (9-5-2).

The Ducks placed John Gibson (appendectomy) on IR.

Gibson underwent an emergency appendectomy on September 25th and is about two weeks into his original 3-6 week timeline. The American netminder has failed to produce a save percentage above .900 in each of the last two seasons and beginning 2024-25 on the Injured Reserve is a tough way to ensure a bounce-back campaign after only 13 wins in 2023-24.

Terry (lower-body) returned to practice on Friday.

Terry missed some action this week but was back at practice on Friday, suggesting that he'll be good-to-go for the Ducks' season opener next Saturday. Terry, who is expected to open the season on a line with Mason McTavish and Trevor Zegras, had 54 points (20G / 34A) in 76 games last season.

Terry is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Terry will miss Anaheim's practice for a second straight day after it was announced the forward was day-to-day with a lower-body injury. The 27-year-old American right-winger is expected to have a large role yet again on the young Anaheim Ducks, after putting up 20 goals, 54 points and 172 SOG in 76 games played in 2023-24.

Gibson underwent emergency appendectomy surgery on Wednesday and is expected to be out for approximately 3-6 weeks.

Gibson's 2024-25 is already starting out on a negative note after Anaheim announced Thursday that the 31-year-old had undergone emergency appendectomy surgery on Wednesday and is expected to be out for approximately 3-6 weeks. The American netminder has failed to produce a save percentage above .900 in each of the last two seasons and beginning 2024-25 on the Injured Reserve is a tough way to ensure a bounce-back campaign after only 13 wins in 2023-24.

Mintyukov (lower body) will begin training camp injured and is considered day-to-day.

After an extremely successful rookie season in 2023-24, it appears Pavel Mintyukov's sophomore campaign will start a bit delayed after it was announced the defenseman is day-to-day with a lower-body injury and will not begin training camp on time. The 20-year-old was Anaheim's 2020 1st-round pick (10th overall) and had four goals, 28 points, 24 PIMs and 88 SOG in 63 games in his rookie campaign last season.

Alex Stalock has retired from professional hockey after 11 NHL seasons.

With San Jose announcing Alex Stalock as their Sharks Audio Network colour commentator this upcoming season, it drew the end of the goaltender's career after 11 NHL seasons with three different teams (SJS, MIN, CHI). The 37-year-old was drafted by San Jose in the 4th round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft (112th overall) and posted a 70-65-20 career record alongside a .908 SV% and 2.70 GAA in 179 lifetime appearances.

Suchanek had successful surgery to repair a ruptured ACL and is expected to miss 6-8 months.

Anaheim's goaltending depth was dealt a tough blow on Thursday as it was announced that Tomas Suchanek would miss the next six to eight months after successfully undergoing surgery to repair a ruptured ACL. The 21-year-old Czech netminder was expected to compete for the starting job in San Diego (AHL) this season after posting a 14-10-5 record, 910 SV% and 2.92 GAA in 29 games with the Gulls in 2023-24.

Sennecke suffered a foot fracture in offseason training and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.

Anaheim was dealt a tough pre-training camp blow on Thursday as Beckett Sennecke announced he would be out for 6-to-8 weeks after suffering a foot fracture during off-season training. The 18-year-old right-wing prospect was Anaheim's 2024 1st-round selection (3rd overall) and was expected to compete for a roster spot in training camp prior to the injury. In 63 games with Oshawa (OHL) in 2023-24, he had 27 goals and 68 points.

Colorado has signed Oliver Kylington to a one-year, $1.05 million contract.

Kylington will leave the Calgary Flames after five successful seasons after the defensemen signed a one-year, $1.05 million contract with Colorado on Monday. The 27-year-old made headlines in 2023-24 after he successfully returned to the NHL after a nearly two-year mental health hiatus. In 33 games played in his return, he had three goals, eight points, and 12 PIMs in 33 games with the Flames.

Oliver Kylington
The Ducks signed winger Nikita Nesterenko to a one-year, two-way contract.

Nesterenko was a fringe roster player for the Ducks in 2024, spending most of the year developing in the AHL. The 2019 sixth-round pick had 37 points (16G / 21A) in 70 games with San Diego (AHL) and had one goal in three games with the Ducks. Nesterenko should make a push for a roster spot out of training camp this fall.

Nikita Nesterenko
The Ducks signed Jackson LaCombe to a two-year contract extension worth $1.85 million ($925K AAV).

LaCombe turned pro in 2023 following his senior year at the University of Minnesota. He was a full-time NHLer in 2024, appearing in 71 games for the Ducks, collecting two goals and 15 assists (17 points). The 23-year-old should be a key part of the Ducks' blueline again in 2024-25.
