Dostal will start on Wednesday vs. Utah.

Dostal was excellent in the Ducks' season opener and will return to the crease for the second time this season on Wednesday night against the Utah Hockey Club. The 24-year-old Dostal had stretches of excellent play last season, ending his campaign with a modest 3.33 GAA and .902 SV% in 44 contests (14-23-3). The Czech netminder recorded a 30-save shutout in his only appearance this season but his Ducks rank as +134 home underdogs against a Utah HC team that that has scored five or more goals in three of their four games (3-1-0).

Kreider (illness) missed practice on Wednesday.

Jonny Brodzinski was inserted into Kreider's usual spot in practice on Wednesday as Kreider was absent due to an illness. The 33-year-old Kreider and career-long Ranger has three points (3G / 0A) and nine shots on goal through three games this season.

Mrazek will start on Tuesday in Calgary.

The Blackhawks will turn to Mrazek between the pipes for the third time in their first four games to start the season. The Czech netminder has a 3.03 GAA and .906 SV% through two games this season (1-1-0) and was terrific in his most recent outing, saving 36 of 38 shots (.947 SV%) in a 5-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers. The Blackhawks enter action on Tuesday as +132 road underdogs against an undefeated Calgary Flames club (3-0-0) that has already scored 16 goals this season.

Husso has cleared waivers and been assigned to Grand Rapids (AHL).

Three days after allowing four goals on 14 shots (.714 SV%) in the Red Wings' season opener, Ville Husso was placed on waivers. The 29-year-old carries a $4.75 million cap hit this season and is expected to be sent to the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) after clearing waivers on Monday.

Zellweger will be a healthy scratch on Sunday in Vegas.

Zellweger will go from the Ducks' top powerplay unit to the press box on Sunday after it was announced he would be a healthy scratch in Vegas. The 21-year-old had only 16 shifts and 13:43 TOI in the Ducks' opening season win and will be replaced by Urho Vaakanainen in game two of the season.

Husso has been placed on waivers on Sunday.

Three days after allowing four goals on 14 shots (.714 SV%) in the Red Wings' season opener, Ville Husso has been placed on waivers. The 29-year-old carries a $4.75 million cap hit this season and is expected to be sent to Grand Rapids if unclaimed on Monday.

Husso will start Detroit's season opener on Thursday vs. Pittsburgh.

The Red Wings enter the 2024-25 campaign without a firm starting netminder. Cam Talbot and Alex Lyon are both in the mix for heavy workloads this season but Husso will get the first opportunity to showcase his talents in their season opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday. The 29-year-old Husso spent most of the 2023-24 campaign battling injuries and was unreliable when called upon, posting a 3.55 GAA and .892 SV% in a limited 19-game sample size (9-5-2).

The Blackhawks will start the season with Mrazek as their starting goaltender. The 32-year-old Mrazek was a bright spot for a Blackhawks club in a mostly forgettable 2023-24 campaign. In 56 contests (18-31-4), Mrazek posted a respectable 3.05 GAA and .907 SV%, totals that mirror his career average of 2.80 GAA and .907 SV%. The Blackhawks enter action on Tuesday as +145 road underdogs in a historic first regular season game for the Utah Hockey Club.

Terry missed some action this week but was back at practice on Friday, suggesting that he'll be good-to-go for the Ducks' season opener next Saturday. Terry, who is expected to open the season on a line with Mason McTavish and Trevor Zegras, had 54 points (20G / 34A) in 76 games last season.

Terry will miss Anaheim's practice for a second straight day after it was announced the forward was day-to-day with a lower-body injury. The 27-year-old American right-winger is expected to have a large role yet again on the young Anaheim Ducks, after putting up 20 goals, 54 points and 172 SOG in 76 games played in 2023-24.

Mintyukov (lower body) will begin training camp injured and is considered day-to-day.

After an extremely successful rookie season in 2023-24, it appears Pavel Mintyukov's sophomore campaign will start a bit delayed after it was announced the defenseman is day-to-day with a lower-body injury and will not begin training camp on time. The 20-year-old was Anaheim's 2020 1st-round pick (10th overall) and had four goals, 28 points, 24 PIMs and 88 SOG in 63 games in his rookie campaign last season.

Alex Stalock has retired from professional hockey after 11 NHL seasons.

With San Jose announcing Alex Stalock as their Sharks Audio Network colour commentator this upcoming season, it drew the end of the goaltender's career after 11 NHL seasons with three different teams (SJS, MIN, CHI). The 37-year-old was drafted by San Jose in the 4th round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft (112th overall) and posted a 70-65-20 career record alongside a .908 SV% and 2.70 GAA in 179 lifetime appearances.

Suchanek had successful surgery to repair a ruptured ACL and is expected to miss 6-8 months.

Anaheim's goaltending depth was dealt a tough blow on Thursday as it was announced that Tomas Suchanek would miss the next six to eight months after successfully undergoing surgery to repair a ruptured ACL. The 21-year-old Czech netminder was expected to compete for the starting job in San Diego (AHL) this season after posting a 14-10-5 record, 910 SV% and 2.92 GAA in 29 games with the Gulls in 2023-24.

Sennecke suffered a foot fracture in offseason training and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.

Anaheim was dealt a tough pre-training camp blow on Thursday as Beckett Sennecke announced he would be out for 6-to-8 weeks after suffering a foot fracture during off-season training. The 18-year-old right-wing prospect was Anaheim's 2024 1st-round selection (3rd overall) and was expected to compete for a roster spot in training camp prior to the injury. In 63 games with Oshawa (OHL) in 2023-24, he had 27 goals and 68 points.

Beckett Sennecke
The Ducks signed winger Nikita Nesterenko to a one-year, two-way contract.

Nesterenko was a fringe roster player for the Ducks in 2024, spending most of the year developing in the AHL. The 2019 sixth-round pick had 37 points (16G / 21A) in 70 games with San Diego (AHL) and had one goal in three games with the Ducks. Nesterenko should make a push for a roster spot out of training camp this fall.
