Alex Lyon will start Friday vs. Nashville.

Lyon has been on injured reserve with an upper-body injury after exiting a December 16th contest against the Philadelphia Flyers in the second period. In his absence, the Red Wings, also without Ville Husso, went 1-5-0 while relying predominantly on James Reimer. Before his injury, Lyon was stellar, allowing one goal or fewer in four of his last six games (4-2-0), posting a tremendous .938 SV%. The Red Wings will face off against the Nashville Predators, who have lost two straight games (0-2-0).

Tage Thompson (personal) has been assigned to the non-roster list.

Thompson was a late scratch for Wednesday's game, with the team only announcing his absence just over 30 minutes before the puck drop, and has now been assigned to the team's non-roster list for personal reasons. Thompson has nine goals and ten assists in 26 games this season. Tyson Jost drew into the Sabres' lineup and centred the first line in Thompson's absence.

Devon Levi will start Thursday vs. Toronto.

The Sabres will hope Levi can erase a forgettable Tuesday night performance from his memory as the rookie goaltender was amid a terrific stretch leading up to it. On Tuesday, Levi was pulled after allowing four goals on 18 shots (.778 SV%) in an eventual 9-4 loss at the hands of the Columbus Blue Jackets. He had won three of four (3-0-1) leading up to that contest, allowing two or fewer goals in each, posting a sparkling .942 SV%. The Sabres are +127 road underdogs against a Toronto Maple Leafs team that is 6-1-3 in their last 10.

Levi will start against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.

Levi has been tremendous since re-joining the Sabres after a brief stint in the AHL, allowing two or fewer goals in all four games (3-0-1) and sporting a marvellous .942 SV%. Levi will start on Tuesday in a favourable matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets, as the Sabres are sizeable -181 home favourites against a team that has lost five of their last seven contests (2-4-1). Levi will have started five of seven games for the Sabres since being recalled and is clearly the favourite between the pipes for the Sabres coaching staff.

Devon Levi
Jacob Bryson has cleared waivers and is expected to be reassigned to Rochester (AHL).

Bryson has spent most of the season from the press box, regularly as a healthy scratch for the Sabres, and has been placed on unconditional waivers. After appearing in 59 games in the 2022-23 campaign, Bryson has been limited to only three games this season.

Jacob Bryson
Jack Quinn (achilles) will make his season debut Tuesday vs. Columbus.

Before the start of the season, Quinn was scheduled to return around Christmas and the 22-year-old will do so on Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets as he completes his recovery from Achilles surgery. Quinn had a solid rookie season, scoring 14 goals with 23 assists (37 points) in 75 games. At practice on Monday, he skated on a line with Tage Thompson and Zach Benson.
