Felix Sandstrom will start Wednesday vs. Toronto

Sandstrom stopped 22 of 24 shots in a tough, 3-0 loss to the San Jose Sharks in his last start. Wednesday will mark Sandstrom's third straight start in the second game of back-to-backs, where he has understandably struggled with an 0-2-0 record along with his .900 SV%. He faces the Toronto Maple Leafs who are currently on a four-game losing streak and rank a surprising 26th in the NHL in GF/GP with 2.7.

Samuelsson (lower-body) is expected to miss a few weeks.

Samuelsson went down awkwardly in a collision with Curtis Lazar on Saturday and is expected to miss a few weeks. This is probably the best-case scenario because it looked like the injury may have been serious when it first happened. Owen Power and Ilya Lyubushkin have been skating with Rasmus Dahlin since Samuelsson got hurt.

Reimer led the Sharks onto the ice for warmups.

Reimer is coming off a 30-save shutout his last time out as the Sharks beat the Flyers 3-0 Sunday night. He is having a strong start to his 2022-23 season, ranking eighth in the NHL in SV% (.933) while posting a 2.21 GAA. They will take on the Pacific-leading Vegas Golden Knights who rank 10th in the NHL in SOG per game (34.1) and are coming off a 3-1 victory to Toronto last night.

The Sabres have recalled defenseman Lawrence Pilut

Pilut has been recalled from the Rochester Americans and will join the Buffalo Sabres immediately Friday. Pilut hasn't seen NHL action since 2019-20 when he got a 13-game showing with the Sabres. Through 46 career NHL games, the 26-year-old has one goal and six points to go along with 24 PIMs and a -12 plus/minus.

Nicolas Aube-Kubel is expected to be a healthy scratch Saturday

Aube-Kubel looks like he will be the odd man out for the Maple Leafs Saturday as they take on the Winnipeg Jets. After signing from the Colorado Avalanche in the offseason, NAK has struggled in his first five games in Toronto, only collecting one shot while averaging 9:00 TOI on the Leafs' fourth line.

Reimer will start Thursday in New York.

Reimer made 41 saves in a 45-shot losing effort to the New York Islanders his last time out Tuesday. He will be looking for his first win of the season after starting 0-3-0 for the winless Sharks with a 3.05 GAA. He will hope for better result Thursday as he takes his .919 SV% into New York to take on the 3-1-0 Rangers and Igor Shesterkin.
