Carolina Hurricanes News

Kotkaniemi will draw into the Hurricanes lineup on Friday.

Kotkaniemi was one of four surprise additions to the Hurricanes' lineup on Friday as Jordan Staal, Jalen Chatfield, Brett Pesce, and Teuvo Teravainen are all out with undisclosed injuries. Tony DeAngelo, Brendan Lemieux, and Scott Morrow will also draw into the lineup.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi
Andersen will start in St. Louis on Friday.

The Hurricanes will continue their usual goalie rotation as Andersen slides back between the pipes for Friday night's game in St. Louis. Freddie pitched a shutout his last time out, stopping all 23 shots he faced in a 3-0 victory over the Blue Jackets on Sunday. The 34-year-old has been in outstanding form since returning from injury in early March, posting an 8-1-0 record and a .954 SV% across nine starts. He is in a great spot to stay in the win column on Friday with the Hurricanes being -210 favourites over the Blues.

Morrow is expected to make his NHL debut on Friday.

Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour said the 21-year-old blue-liner will likely make his debut when the Hurricanes travel to St. Louis on Friday. Morrow was the 40th overall selection in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He had six goals and 24 assists in 37 NCAA games this season with the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Scott Morrow
Rantanen (concussion) has been cleared for contact and was a full participant in Friday's team practice.

Rantanen has been skating with the team all week and has been cleared for contact, likely making his return to the lineup imminent. His 102 points in 77 games in 2023-24 marks his second straight 100+ point campaign. Colorado's next game is on Saturday against the Winnipeg Jets.

Kochetkov will start in Boston on Tuesday.

Carolina will continue its carousel of goaltender starts as they turn back to Pyotr Kochetkov on Tuesday in Boston. The 25-year-old will appear in his 41st game tonight and has taken a big step forward in the Hurricanes' crease this season with his 21-13-4 record, 2.37 GAA and .910 SV%. He'll head to Boston to take on the Bruins, who have won four straight games and are 10th in the NHL in goals per game (3.27).

Roslovic will draw back into the Rangers' lineup on Tuesday vs. the Islanders.

Roslovic will return to New York's lineup after one game and has stated he is "a little more motivated" as he replaces Matt Rempe on Tuesday. The 27-year-old was acquired at the trade deadline and has settled in decently with his two goals, seven points, 22 SOG, and two PIMs in 15 games since being dealt.

Rantanen (concussion) skated in a non-contact jersey Tuesday and is hopefully to return on Saturday vs. Winnipeg.

Rantanen took part in a skate before Colorado's practice on Monday, participated in a non-contact jersey on Tuesday, and is nearing a return to the lineup. His 102 points in 77 games in 2023-24 marks his second straight 100+ point campaign.

Rantanen (concussion) is out on Tuesday but is progressing and feeling better.

Rantanen took part in a skate before Colorado's practice Monday but has been announced Tuesday vs. Minnesota as he will be his second-straight game due to a concussion. Avalanche fans can breathe as the 27-year-old is expected back sooner rather than later as he will be likely taking part in the morning skate Tuesday regardless of his in-game distinction. His 102 points in 77 games in 2023-24 marks his second straight 100+ point campaign.
