The Sharks recalled Dylan Gambrell from San Jose (AHL).
Gambrell had a sensational season debut with the Barracuda, scoring two goals and one assist. With Joe Thornton landing on IR, Gambrell has been recalled and will be a bottom-6 option on Monday afternoon vs. the Islanders.
The Flames have re-signed Jon Gillies to a two-year deal worth $1.5M ($750K AAV).
The Blue Jackets have signed Boone Jenner to a four-year, $15M ($3.75M AAV) extension.
The Bruins have re-signed Sean Kuraly to a three-year extension worth $3.825M ($1.275M AAV).
Kuraly had 14 points (6G / 8A) in 75 games with the Bruins last season. Boston has one of the deepest forward depth charts in the NHL, so Kuraly will be locked into a fourth line role again in 2019.
The Penguins have signed Jack Johnson to a five-year contract worth $16.25M ($3.25M AAV).
Johnson is a former No.3 overall pick, who has had a few bad years. Johnson is coming off of a season in which he had a -5.4 relative Corsi and was a healthy scratch during the playoffs. However, Johnson remains a high-end skater who can play a physical style of game and brings some offence as well. In Pittsburgh, he will be an upgrade on Chad Ruhwedel as a third-pairing defenseman.
The Flyers have signed James van Riemsdyk to a five-year, $35M ($7.0M AAV) contract.
van Riemsdyk was originally selected No.2 overall by the Flyers in 2007 and spent the first three years of his career in Philadelphia. van Riemsdyk has been one of the most consistent producers in the NHL in recent years, averaging 31 goals and 28 assists (59 points) per 82 games over the last five seasons. JVR is expected to skate on the Flyers’ second line with Nolan Patrick and Jakub Voracek.
Werenski underwent shoulder surgery on Thursday and is expected to need 5-6 months to rehab.

Monahan has been playing through wrist and hip injuries and with the Flames falling out of the playoff hunt, Monahan will be shut down for the rest of the season. Monahan had another great season, picking up 31 goals and 33 assists (64 points) in 74 games. Sam Bennett and Curtis Lazar are expected to play with Johnny Gaudreau on Saturday.
