Berggren has been up and down from the AHL several times over the last few weeks and will make his most recent stop with the Red Wings on an emergency basis as Dylan Larkin, J.T. Compher, and Klim Kostin have been placed on the injured reserve. Berggren has 15 points (5G / 10A) in 16 games with Grand Rapids (AHL) this season.

Compher has been placed on the injured reserve, joining Red Wings centreicemen Dylan Larkin (upper-body) and Klim Kostin (undisclosed). Before his injury, the 28-year-old Compher was pacing for the best season of his career with 19 points (6G / 13A) in 24 games. The Red Wings have recalled Zach Aston-Reese and Austin Czarnik to help fill the void at center-ice for the Red Wings. Coach Derek Lalonde stated that Compher could be available to return on Thursday.
Larkin exited Saturday's contest against the Ottawa Senators, playing only 5:26 time-on-ice, after a scary incident that left him motionless on the ice for several moments. Larkin was able to skate off the ice with the help of his teammates but will be out of the lineup for a minimum of one week as he has been placed on the injured reserve. Zach Aston-Reese and Austin Czarnik have both been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL. Larkin's absence creates a void at the center-ice position for the Red Wings, who are already without J.T. Compher (soreness).
Lyon will return to the crease on Saturday after watching Ville Husso get berated in a 6-5 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks on Thursday. Lyon has unquestionably been the best goaltender for the Red Wings since making his debut less than a month ago, posting a stellar 1.61 GAA and .947 SV% through five games (4-1-0). The Red Wings will look to rebound on Saturday against the Ottawa Senators, who they last played on November 16th in a 5-4 overtime loss, one day before Lyon made his debut with the Red Wings.
Compher has not participated in the last several practices for the Red Wings but will be a game-time decision on Saturday against the Ottawa Senators. The 28-year-old Compher is pacing for the best season of his career with 19 points (6G / 13A) in 24 games. He will likely join Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane on the second line if he can return.
Talbot has been used between the pipes much more sparingly lately but will return to the crease for the fourth time in the last seven games when the Kings visit the Montreal Canadiens. The Kings have won eight of their last nine (8-1-0) and are significant -208 road favourites against a Canadiens team they defeated 4-0 two weeks ago with Phoenix Copley as their goaltender. Talbot has been a steadying presence for the Kings all season and has an outstanding .945 SV% over his past 10 games (8-2-0).

Compher has been a scarce participant at practice for the Red Wings lately and will not play on Thursday against the San Jose Sharks. Compher is having a tremendous season in his first year with the Red Wings, scoring 19 points (6G / 13A) in 24 games but averaging only 1.3 shots on goal per game. Joe Veleno is expected to replace Compher, centring a second line with Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane in his season debut.
Husso will take the Wings' crease over for the third time in four games after winning his previous start in a 26 save (.867 SV%) victory vs. Montreal. The 28-year-old goaltender has struggled yet again this season much like he did in 2022-23, with his 8-4-1 record, 3.48 GAA and .891 SV%. He will host the San Jose Sharks, who enjoyed a four-goal comeback victory over the New York Islanders last game but are still last in the NHL in both shots per game (24.9) and goals per game (2.0).
Kane will make his much anticipated Red Wings' debut Thursday as Detroit takes on San Jose. The 35-year-old signed a one-year, $2,750,000 last week and is expected to lineup on Detroits top power play and second line alongside Alex DeBrincat. He will look to add to the 451 goals and 1237 points he has amassed over his incredibly impressive 1180 game NHL career.
Lyon has undoubtedly been the Red Wings' best goaltender since making his debut several weeks ago and will start for the fifth time in their last eight games on Tuesday. In four games (3-1-0), Lyon has a sparkling 1.26 GAA and .958 SV%. His .750 quality start rate this season is through a very small sample size but seems mildly attainable given that he had a .714 QS% through 14 starts last season. The Red Wings have won five of their last six (5-1-0) and are -132 road favourites against a Buffalo Sabres team that has lost three straight (0-3-0), being outscored 14-7 in the process.
Kane has been ruled out of Tuesday's game against the Buffalo Sabres but his Red Wings' debut seems imminent as he was a full participant at practice for the first time on Monday. Kane skated alongside Joe Veleno and former Blackhawks teammate Alex DeBrincat on the Red Wings' second line. Kane seems to be a lock, at least for the time being, with DeBrincat, but there will likely be some line shuffling, especially since J.T. Compher was not at practice, as Kane reacclimates himself to gameplay.
Talbot took the loss in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Capitals on Wednesday despite facing just 15 shots. It snapped a personal three-game winning streak for Talbot, and he'll be eager to get back in the win column against the Avalanche on Sunday. The 36-year-old has been a pleasant surprise for the Kings this season, registering a .928 SV% and a 10-4-1 record in his first season in Los Angeles. He and the Kings are slight home favourites (-135) against Colorado on Sunday.
