After a long offseason of negotiations, Detroit and Jonatan Berggren agreed on a one-year, $875,000 contract extension on Monday. The 24-year-old is entering his third season with Detroit and will hope for a larger role than the 12 games he appeared in in 2023-24. In 79 career games with the Red Wings, he has 17 goals, 34 points and 112 SOG while averaging just 13:04 TOI/GP.

The 22-year-old netminder was drafted by Anaheim in the 5th round (148th overall) of the 2021 Draft and spent the entire 2023-24 season with the Tulsa Oilers (ECHL).

Fresh off of his second career Stanley Cup victory, Vladimir Tarasenko has signed a two-year, $9.5 million contract ($4,750,000 AAV) with the Detroit Red Wings. The 32-year-old is entering his 13th NHL season with his fifth team and had 23 goals, 55 points and a +13 plus/minus in 76 games between Ottawa and Florida in 2023-24.

The Red Wings have signed Joe Snively to a one-year, two-way contract.

After turning pro in 2019, following his senior year at Yale University, Snively spent the last six years in the Capitals' organization. During that time, he's scored six goals with five assists (11 points) in 27 NHL games, playing primarily in the AHL. Expect him to start the 2024-25 season with Grand Rapids (AHL).

Detroit will bring back Christian Fischer for a second season after the 27-year-old signed a one-year contract extension worth $1,125,000 on Monday. The 27-year-old joined Detroit in 2023-24 after seven seasons in Arizona and had five goals, 19 points and 36 PIMs in 79 games played last year.

Detroit added to Grand Rapids' depth chart on Monday as it added Sheldon Dries on a two-year, two-way contract. The 30-year-old winger last appeared in the NHL with Vancouver in 2022-23 but had a successful full season in Abbotsford (AHL) in 2023-24, with 29 goals and 52 points in 55 games played.

Campbell was recently bought out of a five-year, $25 million contract by Edmonton and has signed a one-year, contract worth $775,000 on Monday with Detroit. The 32-year-old spent the majority of 2023-24 with Bakersfield (AHL) after struggling out of the gate with Edmonton with his 1-4-0 record, 4.50 GAA and .873 SV%.

Talbot will join his eighth team in 12 seasons after he signed a two-year, $5 million contract ($2,500,000 AAV) with the Red Wings on Monday. The 36-year-old appeared in his most games since 2017-18 (54) and had a 27-20-6 record, .913 SV% and 2.50 GAA with Los Angeles.

Kane can reportedly earn an additional $2.5M in performance bonuses. After joining the Red Wings in mid-December, Kane posted 47 points (20G / 27A) and the Red Wings were 23-22-5 in 50 games. Kane bounced between the first and second line last year and could do the same in 2024-25, especially if the Red Wings add another winger in Free Agency on Monday.

The ugly chapter which is Jack Campbell in Edmonton seems to have come to an end on Sunday as the Oilers placed the goaltender on unconditional waivers for the purposes of a buyout. Campbell had three year's remaining on a five-year, $25 million contract adn will save the Oilers $3.9 million in cap space next season. The 32-year-old was sent to the minors last year after just five games due to his 1-4-0 record, 4.50 GAA and .873 SV%.

Detroit has acquired Jesse Kiiskinen and a 2024 2nd round pick from Nashville for Andrew Gibson.

Kiiskinen was Nashville's 2023 third-round pic (68th overall) and has been dealt to Detroit alongside a 2024 second-round pick for Andrew Gibson. Kiiskinen is an 18-year-old right-winger who has spent his entire playing career in Finland and had four goals, and 10 points in 38 games with Pelicans (Liiga).

Detroit has agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract with Axel Sandin-Pelikka.

Sandin-Pelikka was Detroit's 2023 first-round pick (17th overall) and signed a three-year, entry-level contract on Monday. The 19-year-old defenseman just finished his second season with Skelleftea AIK (SHL) and had an impressive 10 goals, and 18 points in 39 games played in Sweden highest league.

Despite allowing four goals on 31 shots (.871 SV%), Talbot evened out the series with a victory over Edmonton in overtime of Game 2. The Kings' will go back to the 36-year-old veteran netminder despite his struggles after he posted a solid 27-20-6 record, 2.50 GAA, and .913 SV% during the regular season. He'll look to take the series lead as Los Angeles hosts Edmonton for Game 3 on Friday, who were fourth on the NHL in goals per game (3.56) during the regular season.
